Price elasticity is calculated by dividing the percent change in quantity demanded by the percent change in price.
There are multiple factors that contribute to a more elastic demand. First, demand elasticity is higher for products with close substitutes. Second, demand is more elastic for individual brands than a specific industry as a whole. Next, demand curves typically become more elastic over time.
