Your focus will be your own!What kind of Question?Let’s think first about the types of questions you might pose for your project.Your questions can be as impersonal or personal as you like.Here are some quick examples – these are quite general and need more scope. Feel free to use or modify them, make them more specific, or come up with one on your own:1.How do Canadian institutions shape the experience of acculturation for new arrivals? [if this applies to you, you could explore this through your own personal story]2.Why is it so important to understand differences in non-verbal communication? What could go wrong? (you might explore this through your own experience(s) of intercultural engagement)3.Select an issue/debate in society – like the Quebec Secularism Bill. How do you feel about the issue? Or you can mix these together. How you approach this will depend in part on what you select as a question and how you choose to focus it. Whether you lean more to the personal or social levels, the key is to bring in course concepts and theory to help you to tell your story. You can do this by:oUsing it as evidence,oAs a frame for shaping the segments of the story (ie. stages of conflict), And/oroAs a set of assumptions or ideas to confirm or reject against your own observations/experiences.What is the form of Digital Storytelling?We will be guided by the classic 7 elements of digital storytelling. You will be given lots of resources and support for this on Moodle. But basically, think of it this way:You will do a media project – using the Kaltura tool in Moodle. You won’t need to use additional software, unless you want to. You can choose between audio only (podcast style), video, or screen capture with voice.The focus is not the form of an academic argument but to develop the answer to a key question overtly through your own point of view.
