The purpose of this letter is to propose a solution to the increase of litter on the streets of our city. The problem with litter is that it ruins the beauty our city, for us and our visitors, and it also harms our environment. Tourists come to this city for its beauty and many small businesses rely on the tourism in this city. With trash all over the streets, it makes this city less attractive and the number of tourists will decrease. It is also nice to keep our community clean and beautiful for ourselves and our families. We might even be able to say that with less litter in the streets we can have less street cleaning days, where everyone has to move their cars or risk getting a parking ticket. How can we, as residents of this city, help to keep our streets clean? We can encourage our friends and family to stop littering, but we also need to be proactive and pick up the litter we see in the streets. It would be easier to convince people to help if there’s trash bin where they can easily throw away the litter from the streets. I suggest that a trash bin should be added to every block in the city. In a busy city like San Francisco, everybody is on the go. People like to feel productive by eating on-the-go or even taking a snack on the streets. This is the beginning of our problem, while to-go foods are convenient, they come with extra packaging that most people are too lazy to go look for a trash can to throw it in. You’d have to walk blocks to find a trash can around and even then, they’re normally completely full and even spilling trash out onto the streets.Adding trash bins will give people no reason to dump their trash on the streets if there’s a trash bin less than a block away. It can also give more people from our community jobs as trash collectors. With a trash bin on every block, it will also prevent trash cans from overfilling onto the streets.LETTER 2Dear Citizens of San Francisco,How many of you have walked outside of your front door and slipped on some form trash just lying on the ground? Many of us see something on the ground and do not think about how it can harm them or their families. Many of this trash that is left on the ground can cause harm to not only the people in your family but your animals. Some of this waste is toxic or moldy and that can harm any living thing. I have walked to the park with my kids and seen overflowing trash can with trash falling all over the floor and used syringes laying on the kids play area. That is not a city that I would like to raise my children in. Of course we cannot do this alone, we will require the assistance of our city leaders, but it starts with us as citizens. We have to take pride and reform the city that we would like to live in! We have to come together and make the community that we want to live in. There are Many ways that we can work together to solve this problem, but the easiest way this problem can go away is just picking up behind yourself and your family. To take it one step further we can pick up trash that we see on the ground. These things are not hard to change and do not take unnecessary time out of a single person’s daily life, but it can improve your quality of life. We also will require that the city increases its trash cans on the street so there are more places to throw trash away, and increase the amount of times the trash cans get emptied. With the joint work of the city and the citizens we can have a community that we all love and can raise healthy families in. Please help us make a better tomorrow!

SOC 100 UCLA Tocqueville Reflections of Democracy in America Essay

nursing essay writing service SOC 100 UCLA Tocqueville Reflections of Democracy in America Essay.

Please write a coherent, unified paper of 5 pages on one of
the topics below. The prompts are meant to suggest the kinds of
things you should write about, but you may go beyond them. Your
paper should present a clear thesis and argument, and not just be
a list of answers to the questions.
For each topic, the task is to make sense of it in the
context of TOCQUEVILLE’S understanding of America and of equality
and liberty, democracy and democratic freedom.
After each topic below, you will see references to other
chapters in Tocqueville where you can also find material on your
topic, in addition to the material already in the assigned
readings. You might consult these chapters, too, in case there
is something more you can use for your paper.
You must document your paper with evidence from the text and
from no other source. This means nothing from lectures or any
secondary sources. The references for your citations from the
text can be short, something of the form (Tocqueville, vol. 2,
Part II, chap. 2, 200), or (DA vol. 2, Part II, chap. 2, 200),
etc. The pages of the papers must be numbered, double-spaced
with 12-point font, and have margins of one inch.1. Tocqueville, we know, thinks that religion is of great
importance for the “human heart.” What has religion contributed
to societies historically? Does Tocqueville think that religion
can now contribute something in democratic societies, and are
there lessons to be learned from the example of America?
In addition to the already assigned chapters, you might
also consult Volume II, Part I: chs 1-2, 5-7, and Part II: chs.
9, 12, 15.2.Most of Tocqueville’s reflections concern the life of
citizens in democracies, but he also takes up the situation of
certain non-citizen groups, like Indians and blacks, and citizen
groups without the vote, like women. How does Tocqueville see
the situation of women in democracies as opposed to
aristocracies, and are relations between men and women in any way
different in the two social conditions? What does he say, in
particular, about the role of women in America, and does the
American example provide any lessons for France?
In addition to the already assigned chapters, you might
also consult Volume II, Part III: chs 8, 11, 14, 15, 19.3.Tocqueville goes out of his way to defend the importance
of private property of whatever kind. Why is property so
important to his analysis of society? Are there any particular
threats to the security of property in democracies, and does the
American example provide any lessons about it? Conversely, does
the concern of Americans with property pose any problems for
democracy?
In addition to the assigned chapters, you might also
consult Volume I, Part II, ch 10 (pp 400-7); and Volume II, Part
II: chs 1-12, 16, 18-19, and Part III: chs. 5, 16, 19.
