Course Materialhttp://mediareportcard.com/rtvf110_2203/schedule.htmlPURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT:THIS ASSIGNMENT HAS TWO PARTS: Each section requires a response, but you should put ALL parts into one single paper for submission. FORMAT: As with all assignments for this class, submit your assignment to TASK 4 CANVAS FOLDER. Please make sure your name is at the top of every page of your paper. Double-space your paper and use 1 inch margins all around (it makes it easier to read). No cover page is necessary. Double-spaced 2 pages. The purpose of this assignment is for you (a member of the public) to review various coverage of a specific event or story presented by media and evaluate whether a media company’s performance is living up to the requirement TO SERVE THE PUBLIC’s INTEREST, CONVENIENCE or NECESSITY (PICON). PART 1: MEDIA WATCHDOG PROFILEBecome familiar with a media “watchdog” organization of your choice (see list below or choose one not listed, but let your Professor know). Watchdog organizations exist to improve media. So you can use the information you learn about their expectations to “judge or evaluate”; media content providers and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, come up with your own definition of THE PUBLICS’ INTEREST by which you will judge media’s performance.THIS PART 1 SHOULDN’T TAKE YOU MORE THAN 20-30 MINUTES.Provide the following information about your chosen watchdog organization that you will find on its web site. If the information isn’t there, just indicate that in your answer. Specifically, you will provide the following information about your chosen media watchdog organization:Mission: What are the stated goals of the organization? What do they stand for? What do they hope to achieve?Economics: Who sponsors them? Who is their target market or target audience? Ownership: Who owns the organization? Affiliations: Are they affiliated with other groups? If so, which ones? If you can judge a person by the company they keep, what do these affiliations tell you about the organization you have chosen to research?Involvement: How can you participate with this organization? List any actions this groups suggests you might take to become more involved with media.PICON Definition: What expectations does this group set for media? How does this group define PICON? Serving the Public Interest Convenience Or Necessity? Most important: Your paper must end with what will be YOUR concrete definition of PICON (not the Media Watchdog’s, but yours based upon what you’ve learned so far). You will use this definition as the deciding criterion to evaluate your station’s performance. Here is a brief list of media-watch groups. You may find others, but please run your choice by your Professor before you begin your research.BuzzFlash.com (Links to an external site.)AlterNet.org (Links to an external site.) Why Qualitative Method Was Chosen for Diabetes Program Evaluation Explicatory Essay. When a program is started, it is important to evaluate it after some time in order to determine the performance. By evaluating a program, those who are in charge are able to determine whether the program is implemented well and what changes should be made. The Center for Disease and Control (CDC) has been launching several programs to eradicate various diseases from the public. One of the major diseases that CDC has put efforts to stop is diabetes. Subsequently, CDC has also carried out several evaluations of the diabetes eradication program in order to determine its effectiveness (Centers for Disease Control, 2008, p. 5). The Center for Disease Control (CDC) chose the qualitative method to evaluate the programs used to stop diabetes. It is worth noting that diabetes is a lifestyle related disease and the programs aimed to stop it should emphasize how to encourage people to change their lifestyles in order to be healthier (Centers for Disease Control, 2008, p. 6). In most cases, quantitative methods are used to evaluate programs whereby the outcome of the programs can be represented in terms of figures. However, in this case, diabetes eradication program evaluation was done using qualitative method in order to give the true picture of what was happening on the ground as far as the disease was concerned (Posavac, 2010, p. 44). Interviews were greatly used during the evaluation of the program whereby the diabetes patients, program facilitators, medical practitioners and the general public members were asked for their views about the success of the program. Generally, all parties involved in the running program were engaged in direct interviews for being able to collect reliable information about the achievement made by CDC in order to eradicate diabetes. Unlike in the quantitative method, whereby the outcome is given in figures, qualitative method gives more details that represent the actual environment of the issues that have been evaluated. One of the major reasons why CDC decided to use qualitative program evaluation method is the thematic insights associated with qualitative program evaluation (BoulmetisWhy Qualitative Method Was Chosen for Diabetes Program Evaluation Explicatory Essay

Good to Great by Jim Collins Paper Report and Review

Good to Great by Jim Collins Paper Report and Review.

The report and review should be typed double spaced, 12 to 15 pages in length, including an APA title and reference page. You will need to demonstrate to me you thoroughly understand the concepts and ideas Collins has presented in his best selling book. Remember a review is to critically evaluate the text as well. Your paper is a commentary in addition to being a summary of the text. As you read the book what stood out to you chapter by chapter? What were the “thesis statements” chapter by chapter? I want to know what you think of the book and why you believe what you do about it. Do you agree with Collin’s various assertions and conclusions? Why or why not. What have you learned that will be beneficial to you in your current or future professional position? I will be rigorous in my grading of the assignment.
