Strategies for Managing Resources

Strategies for Managing Resources. Paper details Your literature review sets the stage for everything else that you do in your Doctoral Study. It is through this review that you determine the research that has been conducted in your area of interest and the gaps that exist where research is still needed. The literature review also helps support hypotheses that you might have generated and the choices that you will make in your research. As you proceed, you will review numerous articles that are applicable to your topic. Managing your search of the literature, as well as your findings, is a key part of the Doctoral Study process. Think about strategies you have used in the past to organize research you have conducted. What was effective and what was not? How might you improve your strategies? How will you keep track of the articles you have reviewed and how will you save those that you intend to use in your literature review? What will you do to ensure that you have saved and backed up critical documents? What specific tools will you use? Keep these questions in mind as you determine how you can best manage the many resources that will inform your literature review. Post the strategies you plan to use to manage the resources for your Doctoral Study. Include steps for tracking your search techniques. Describe your strategies for storing and backing up your resources and the tools you will use or have found to be useful. Be specific. Support your Discussion with citations and specific references to all resources used in its preparation. You are asked to provide a reference list for all resources, including those in the resources for this course. Creswell, J. W.,Strategies for Managing Resources

PART A – PLEASE RESPOND TO CLASSMATE DISCUSSION WHETHER YOU AGREE OR NOT & A DETAILED WHY: Describe your best experience in terms of employee development and explain why it was so effective. Then describe your worst experience in terms of employee development and explain why it was so unproductive. Best Experience – When I worked as a receptionist years ago, I had to relearn to use the Microsoft program—Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Additionally, I had to book appointments, retrieve and forward messages and make sure it is going to the right people, set up conference calls, meetings, etc. However, after the first few weeks after familiarizing myself with my job, it became an overall pleasant experience for me where I enjoyed it. Worst Experience – I haven’t directly had any bad experiences. However, the worst experience working there was there were issues where one of the employees were accused of not responding or following through with one of the claims filed. To make a long story short, one of the best employees left the company due to what took place. PART B – PLEASE RESPOND TO CLASSMATE DISCUSSION WHETHER YOU AGREE OR NOT & A DETAILED WHY: Best employee development – My best experience was with a leader who made me feel that he was as invested in my development as I was. We categorized his responsibilities and created a plan where he would teach me about an item on the list every month. He recognized that I could take on more duties, and he would actively seek projects that would challenge and teach me a new skill. He was able to get me into leadership training reserved for the next level in our hierarchy at the company. He built a recognition program for the team where if you broke your record, he would congratulate you in front of your peers and include a small reward. What made this effective was that we outlined in detail the specific skills that I needed to learn, found a way for me to be taught those skills, and followed up on the learning. The conversation was ongoing, and it felt that I was always working on something. As we learned from this week’s lecture, “Far more powerful and sustainable are job content rewards, which increase the satisfaction an employee derives from his work.” (1) My leader did this for me. Worst Experience – My worst employee development experience was with a leader who set unclear expectations, lacked follow up, and would complete things to “check “off the list. This leader did not give us the feeling of being invested in our development. This leader assigned tasks that were not solving for the big picture. It made us feel that we were doing work that was irrelevant and wasting time. Feedback from this leader did not feel genuine and was very generic. In this week’s lecture, we learned that things like recognition, responsibility, autonomy, performance feedback, and opportunities to participate in decision making gave employees options in a specific development. (2) As I reflect on my experience with the said leader, I did not feel that any of these opportunities were ever given.
