In reading the Hill County Community Hospital’s case study, I have identified one main change, that may result is several changes. Keeping in mind that the Hill County Community Hospital has been running the same way for forty years. Now, the administration is replacing the contracted physicians working at the hospital, with the Dallas based physician group, due to budget crisis. The questions and concerns are rising because the Hill County residents are comfortable and aware of the currents means of services and reputation of the hospital. which is the resistance. The employees are set in their work culture and everyday protocol. The employees are also fearful of their jobs being outsourced. As evidenced by the resistance of the residents and employees, it appears the administration has announced the coming changes without explaining the reason and if administration did not make the changes there may be worse changes due to budget crisis. Change is apart of our everyday lives; some individuals are open to change and other may be struggling to adapt. In the case study for Hill County community hospital, adapting to the change will allow additional funds to accrue and the organization to prosper. “A historical strength of any business has been its success in preserving the traditions of culture, values and customs” (Caruth & Caruth, 2019). The residents and employees are uncertain of the change, which is resulting in the feelings of insecurity and instability. Another reason for resistance is due to the forty years of valuable culture that the employees built serving the Hill County residents. One of the root causes of the resistance is the administration’s means of communication or lack thereof.
