In previous generations, it had been common practice for young adults to enter the professional world upon completing higher education after high school or entering the work force directly after high school. Young adults were expected to begin building a career, financial stability, and, ultimately, their own families. They were expected to spread their wings and fly from the nest, but this expectation and practice has changed dramatically within the past 30 years. In some cases, adult children may leave their parent’s home in pursuit of independence, but then boomerang back for a plethora of reasons. Other adult children may fail to leave their parent’s home altogether.
Boomerang Families and a Failure to Launch
If you ask any adult from Generation Y, and earlier, what they would expect someone to do upon graduation from high school or higher education, they would, most likely, say get a job, get married, and start a family. Contemporary young adults, with greater frequency, are returning to their parent’s home after a period of independent living, known as boomeranging, as stated by Burn and Szoeke (2015). They go on to say that, in other cases, adult children fail to leave the home at all or are delayed in leaving for various reasons, which is known as a failure to launch. After completing a survey in 2012, the Pew Research Center found that 36% of young adult’s ages 18 to 31 were living with their parents (Pew Research Center, 2012, as cited in Wong et al., 2021). On reason for these young adults failing to leave home or returning home is the fall of the economy in contemporary times (Wong et al., 2021). Gone are the times where the average young adult could apply for and receive employment that could afford a safe home, a vehicle, and support the growth of a small family. Another reason that some young adults fail to leave home is a lack of higher education (Fray, 2013; Qian, 2012, as cited in Wong et al., 2021). Opportunities for employment tend to be dramatically reduced when a person lacks higher education.
The Impact of Coresidence on the Parents
Life with parents and adolescent and younger children can be quite chaotic. Life with parents and adult children can be just as taxing. As stated by Burn and Szoeke (2015), adult children tend to have many of the same expectations on their parents as they did when they were younger. Burn and Szoeke (2015) go on to say that these adult children may expect parents to cater to their needs, expect financial coverage without contributing, and may not accept parent’s rules for the home, among other reasons
This period in life, young adulthood, can be a time for gaining independence and autonomy or a time of autonomy delayed. I think it is important, in all decisions, to seek the path that God sets out for each of us. Ecclesiastes 11:9-10 states “You who are young, be happy while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless” (New International Bible, 1978/2011).
Company director’s responsibility
Company director’s responsibility.
Assume you have been employed as a corporate governance consultant by the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). The AICD is concerned that many company directors hold the opinion that the company’s board of directors has a responsibility to place the interests of shareholders above all other stakeholder interests. Your assignment is to prepare a report to be submitted to the AICD evaluating the evidence that the responsibility of a company director is to place shareholder interests above those of other stakeholders. Specifically, the AICD has requested that your report contain evidence, examples and recommendations for company directors that will guide them when making board decisions so they are responsive to diverse stakeholder audiences. The AICD has advised you that they intend to make your report a public document and it will be uploaded to the website so it can be read by both corporate governance specialists and non-specialists. Family Case Problem Rubric
Sue, 40, and Tom, 42, present for an initial consultation along with their two children, Alice, 16, and Ted, 10. Sue does most of the talking, while Alice sits slumped in her chair with a sullen look on her face. Ted looks anxious and stays close to his mother. They have come because Sue is concerned about her children, most especially Alice. Alice’s school performance has been deteriorating over the past year and is on probation at school because of truancy. She has been disrespectful at home, missing curfew, fighting with her parents and possible drug use is suspected by mom. Ted has refused to attend school for the past two weeks because, according to Sue, he is afraid of the other children. Tom is not actively involved in the raising of the children. He travels frequently on business, and when he is home, he goes out at night by himself to relax and escape the stress of the home.

Acer, INC: Taiwan’s Rampaging Dragon.
Acer, INC: Taiwan’s Rampaging Dragon Description Case Analysis Requirements: 1. Issue identification a. What is ( or are) the key issue(s) facing the company? – focus on only 2 or 1 issue (no more than 2) each issue the solution could be different – you cant get deeper into any b. Why this is important? – explain why this issue is important 0 needs to address it c. How does this issue come about? 2. Situation analysis: ( understand the internal and external environment) external environment can influence the strategy – if they have cash issues you cant say tthey should invest – should be viable a. External environment: economy, institutions, industry context (Porter 5 & PEST analysis) 3. Strategy formulation: (solutions) suggestions you have this solution is to fix the issue a. What is the strategy that you propose to the company? b. What are the implementation steps? Tips: Ideally, apply the framework, knowledge, theory from class to the analysis : support argument with a theory ( if you mention an idea then support with facts- case itself or own thinking) within the case Additional Tips : Framework: Three components 1. The time period of the issue and the environment. The orientation of the report is to tell Acer what to do next beyond the ending period of the case. Hence, the issue must be a problem or challenge facing Acer at the end of the case. Note that this issue may have originated in the past but remained all along. Or it can occur right at the last moment. Similarly, your environmental analysis should also be based on the current situation in the case (not current as in 2018). 2. What issue to focus on? The case mentioned many issues with Acer. You should select one that is important and urgent from your perspective. This is part of the exercise. Therefore, don’t ask me for the issue. As long as you can support your selection with convincing arguments and evidence, that is fine. 3. What strategy to propose in part 3? The strategy in part 3 is dictated by the issue you identified upfront. It is supposed to solve the issue. Here you need to think – hard – to formulate relevant and actionable strategies and plans that all aim to help Acer address the problem. Don’t be constrained by the 4 basic strategies covered in the textbook. They are generic categorizations of strategies of MNEs but may not fit with your current case. All in all, the guiding principle is to assume yourself as a consultant to Acer which is seeking your advice on their strategy, and the case as the materials Acer provided to you for analysis.

Theory of International Relations, topic The South China Sea Dispute.
Theory of International Relations, topic The South China Sea Dispute Academic Level : Professional Paper details I wrote an article and i submetted in an SSCI Journal and it was rejected. by judging the comments from the editor i will need a new article. The comments noted, “I am sorry to tell you that we will not be taking the opportunity to move forward with the publication process. After due consideration, we do not consider the manuscript to be sufficiently strong to send out for external review, given the severe competition to get into the limited space in the journal (we have a very high rejection rate, so that to move forward articles have not only to be good, but very good indeed). We appreciate the amount of work that went into the manuscript and the extent of your knowledge of China as related to the South China Sea. Nevertheless, this knowledge is not well organised in relation to producing a significant contribution to the existing literature. The article lacks focus and digresses into too many directions. It is difficult to detect a clearly identified unifying principle in the form of a research question, argument or thesis that will get the article over the ‘significant contribution’ threshold we ask of articles that move forward. You do make a convincing case why each of the issues you address is very complex, but for the piece to succeed as an article, you need to either identify an ordering principle/vantage point that allows you to identify all the deficiencies, or propose an alternative explanation – again from an identified vantage point (most likely in the form of an alternate theory). I am sorry to bring you this disappointing news, but we wish you all the best in your future work in the area. Although your article was not successful on this occasion, we hope that it will not deter you from create a new alternative ( based on Theory, Perhaps suggestting a change of US strategy from the Realism school of thought to a new approach also based on Realism but focus on constructivism) submitting again in future. Thank you again for submitting your work to International Relations.”
