Review already submitted attached. Grade achieved was only 68% and feedback received: “This is an interesting topic but you should think about whether it is wholly appropriate for research in an MBA. You’ve picked out some useful and relevant sources and on the whole, you have summarised them well. There is scope for a greater degree of evaluation and critique but on the whole, a good piece of work.” So my chosen topic is criticised for not being appropriate enough for an MBA. I therefore need to tweak this to show relevance to and impact on business (higher education depends on student recruitment to survive). I want to address the following too: whether a widening participation university with a diverse ethnic student population fares any differently and if so what the reasons might be. Maybe frame it in the context of the need for WP as agreed by all regulatory bodies and yet the barriers they face both before and during higher education. Then look to see if I can make that difference to get what would normally be considered “risky” students through to the point of graduation. I want to ask the question is it worth the effort or do we just accept a professional working population of white males (we know the answer to that one – but it’s nice to be a bit contentious). If it is worth the effort – then would it not also be good to create league tables for universities according to the value they had managed to add to the non-standard qualification students etc and reward according to this rather than just straight academic performance etc.
