Please be sure to spell-check and proofread your work. Also, where appropriate, make sure to use citations to reference work (SEE BUSINESS PLAN & STRATEGY GRADING RUBRIC & OUTLINE). What your paper should have… The paper must be written in sequential order; otherwise you can make it difficult for the next team member to carry on. Themes of the paper should be reflected throughout. Key point: Specified target markets discussed in the CEO section should be the same target markets that the Marketing & Sales Director promotes and influences. SECOND – The paper must be written in the following essay writing styles (combination): Expository – to explain in a process utilizing relevant facts and figures that insinuates logic, order, and sequence. Key point: Sources are everything because it validates your position. Its better read a shorter paper that has more sources than a longer paper that has few sources. Any information and/or statistics used without citing sources will result in a lower paper grade. FIRST – Descriptive – to describe places, people, events, situations, or locations in a highly detailed manner, especially in fictional scenarios, such as building this business strategy and plan. Key point: Be detailed, but avoid fluffing your points. Read papers that state the same repetitive point of view in five sentences, which could have easily been stated with sources in two. Get to the point. Persuasive – to convince the reader with equipped reasons, arguments, and justifications of their point of view. Key point: Comparing and contrasting to multiple similar cities that share similar demographics could sway an audience that it has worked before, and therefore could potentially work for you, in addition to strengthening your overall argument. THIRD – The paper should NOT be written in generalities, jumbled thoughts, vagueness, and/or bullet form. FOURTH – The paper should be written utilizing headers to address key components of the paper that establish clear lines of what is being discussed and why. Key point: Refer to your respective position on the outline and look at what’s required of you under each of the prompt questions. Decipher what the appropriate headers and sub-headers are that will help you organize your thoughts. FIFTH – The paper should be written with the itemization of self-made tables and graphs to illustrate key facts, details, and justifications of the business strategy and plan (if desired). Key point: If you are going to utilize a graph/table to show evidential support, don’t just insert it. You must explain how it supports your argument. SIXTH – The paper must be written with the use of varied and adequate sources /references when needed to illustrate your points. If it didn’t come from you, it is a source. SEVENTH – The paper must be written with the following format guidelines: • APA guidelines (6th ed.) – include 12-point font (Arial or Times New Roman only), one-inch margins, double-spaced lines, and page numbers. • Overall document should have one cover page (template on gauchospace). • Each section must have in-text citations to reference sources, as well as include a reference list at the end of each section (not compiled at the end of the document).
