Acceptable Use Policy and Security Audit (AUP)

A fair use policy consists of various rules used by the administrator, owner or creator of a computer service, network or website that determines how the network, system or service should be used. Acceptable use policy commonly known as UAP are mainly prepared for businesses, schools, corporations, universities ,website owners and internet service providers to avoid instances of users taking legal actions (Huckabee, Gregory & Cherry Kolb, 2014).

Purpose of AUP

AUP is very essential for any institution and normally new members of any organization are expected to understand the acceptable usage policy and probably sign it before being granted access to the information systems. A proper AUP should thus be well understandable and wholly cover every aspect on what is expected of the users and what is not accepted of them.

The most crucial section of an AUP is the code of conduct. It outlines how the behavior of the user should be while connected to the network. It may give some description on the expected etiquette, appropriate language to be used, illegal activities to avoid, actions assumed to be disturbance on the system and privacy rules to observe (Pignataro, Carlos & Melinda Shore, 2014).

Consequences for violation of AUP

AUP statement should clearly show the consequences in case one violates the use of the policy which should be dependent on the relationship between the organization and the user. As for schools universities and schools they would commonly involve appropriate authorities in case of illegal activities by the user or completely bar the services from the violator. For employers, they could terminate the employment in cases of serious violation especially where security is at risk or sometimes withdraw the services from the employee. Some consequences to violation could be: bring legal action to enjoin violations, issue warnings (written or verbal), bill the member’s newsgroup privileges, bill the member for administrative costs, suspend the members account or even terminate the members account.

Unacceptable conduct

Another fundamental section is the part outlining the network unacceptable use like indecent images and documents transmission, creating and transmitting material to cause inconvenience, anxiety or annoyance, use of offensive or obscene material, material which can cause defamation, transmitting unsolicited commercial and advertising material, unauthorized access to the network and any infringes on the copyright of another person. Others include using the network intending to deny others the services, misuse of network like introducing viruses or corrupting or destroying other peoples work.

AUP Disclaimer

In order for organizations to absolve from responsibility from certain circumstances like errors or omissions or use of information on the website that may bring consequences, it is wise to add disclaimers.

Specifically, an AUP is meant to remind a company, employees or students that it is only a gain to use a website or internet connection and not a right. This keeps them aware that any abuse of the system is illegal and appropriate action can be taken in case of violation.

It is widely accepted that there are several other areas that need to be looked into: compliance with Fair Use Laws and other copyright rules, a declaration that the AUP is in conformity with state and national telecommunication regulations and a proclamation regarding individual safety and confidentiality.

In conclusion, acceptable use entails the integrity of the physical facilities and all pertinent agreements and most importantly respecting the rights and being fair to other system or computer users. Violation of an AUP attracts disciplinary action. However, AUP policies are always subject to change (Edge, Charles & Daniel O’Donnell, 2016).

City 10KT IND Effects Analysis

City 10KT IND Effects Analysis.

Select a large international city that you know well – either by residence or multiple visits. Go to: (Links to an external site.) -Input the city into the tool, set the nuclear detonation for 10 kilotons, at the default surface burst, and “Detonate”. (Use the automated detonation location within the city as the blast site. Don’t move it around inside the city.) Task 1: Analyze the damage rings in detail. Then, using your local knowledge and publicly available research, write a reasonable assessment of the weapons detonation effects. Assess in terms of likely casualties ranges (dead and injured), and major public infrastructure destroyed or damaged. Task 2: Predict what likely survived just outside the major destruction rings and that is available nearby for an Emergency Manager to organize, use, and draw upon in the first 72 hours of a response. Specifically, assess the number and general location of still functioning response facilities on the perimeter of the damage rings. For example, how many hospitals, fire stations, possible shelter locations, are potentially still functional? Where is / are the nearest transportation hubs that likely are still useable (e.g. airports, waterway or seaport facilities, rail stations, major interstate highway interchanges?) How many and how far away are the closest surviving large discount stores? Use your experience, training, and imagination. Task 3: In this situation, what would you look for, ask for, or send someone to check, for potentially pulling “into the fight” to save the injured, and do what you can to stabilize the situation as larger – scale response organizations and assets come to the area? Write a summary of your results discussing your thought processes, interim steps and findings and major conclusions regarding the immediate post – blast response situation. (7-10 pages).

Review the following case study and provide answers to the best of your ability:

1. Emanuel Jones, 60 years of age, is male patient diagnosed with small cell carcinoma. He underwent surgery in the past to remove the left lower lobe of his lung. He is receiving chemotherapy. Two weeks before a round of chemotherapy, a complete blood count with differential, and a renal and metabolic profile are obtained for the patient. The patient presents to the oncology clinic for chemotherapy with a temperature of 101°F. Further assessment reveals decreased breath sounds in the right base of the right lung, and a productive cough expectorating green colored mucus. The patient is short of breath and has a pulse oximetry reading that is SaO2 of 85% on room air. The patient has a history of benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH) and has complaints of urinary frequency and burning upon urination. The patient is admitted to the oncology unit in the hospital. The oncologist orders the following: blood, sputum, and urine cultures; and a chest x-ray. An x-ray of the kidneys, ureters, bladder (KUB) is ordered. An arterial blood gas (ABG) on room air, CBC with differential, and renal and metabolic profile are ordered. Oxygen is ordered to begin with nasal cannula at 2 L/min and titrate to keep SaO2 greater than 90%. A broad-spectrum antibiotic, levofloxacin 500 mg in 100 mL of NS is ordered to be administered IV over 60 minutes once daily.

a) After examining the physician orders, in what sequence should the nurse provide the care to the patient admitted to the hospital? Give the rationale for the sequence chosen.

b) On what areas should the nurse focus the assessment to detect potential complications for Mr. Jones?

c) What patient education does Mr. Jones need from the nurse to help prevent the reoccurrence of an infection and to get treatment for an infection promptly?

2. The oncology clinical nurse specialist (CNS) is asked to develop a staff development program for registered nurses who will be administering chemotherapeutic agents. Because the nurses will be administering a variety of chemotherapeutic drugs to oncology patients, the CNS plans on presenting an overview of agents, classifications, and special precautions related to the safe handling and administration of these drugs.

a) What does the CNS describe as the goals of chemotherapy?

b) How should the CNS respond to the following question: “Why do patients require rounds of chemotherapeutic drugs, including different drugs and varying intervals?”

c) In teaching about the administration of chemotherapeutic agents, what signs of extravasation should the nurse include?

d) What clinical manifestations of myelosuppression, secondary to chemotherapy administration, should the CNS include in this program?
