Florida Gulf Coast University Neuroscience Sleep Disorder Definitions Paper.
Identify and list the 10 most important things you learned in this class in your opinion. You get to define “important” here: this could mean important to you personally, or to the psychology research community, to people in general, etc. An “important thing” could for example be a concept, a theory or a research finding.Number your items starting from 1 and ending with 10. Try to (at least somewhat) rank order them so the most important is number 1, the second most important is number 2, and so on. If you find it hard to exactly rank order them, try to at least make sure that there’s some order (for example, item 1 seems more important to you than item 5, and 5 is more important than 10). For each of the important things, define and explain the relevant concepts, and explain why it is important in your opinion. Use full sentences and show your learning. Each item should be about 3-5 full sentences or more (no upper limit, but these don’t have to be longer than that). For example, this would NOT be enough: 1. Anxiety disorders2. Brain findings about adolescence You’d need to be specific, describe the findings with details, explain what you found significant about them, and use academic terminology learned from the class material or from other educated sources. Some academic terminology related to the example items above might include: pruning, prefrontal cortex, gray matter, myelination, anxiety hierarchy, agoraphobia, compulsion, exposure and response prevention, etc. Define any relevant terms and describe the relevant theories as applicable. The point of this assignment is for you to review the class material, think about it in depth and show your learning. This assignment is not graded for “accuracy” (I’m not going to evaluate how important the items in my opinion are), but the concepts used must be relevant and related to the class content. This assignment needs to be written in your own words (paraphrased). You don’t need to formally cite the class material (unless you take a direct quote; then definitely cite it in APA format and include quotation marks). You don’t need any outside sources for this assignment, but if you do use sources that come from outside of the class material, cite them in APA format so that I can locate them (and provide links for websites). Other students do not see your assignment, and there are no discussion responses for this assignment. Grading:You will get 2 points per item up to 10 items (20 points maximum). To get the points, your list must include academic/professional terminology and concepts learned from the class material. All or most of your post must be paraphrased. If there is a direct quote, it must be marked as such. Material covered include:-Nueroscience-Sleep disorders-Classical conditioning-operant conditioning,-memory functioning-Developmental disorders-prenatal development-cognitive development-Developmental lifespan-social psychology-bystander effect-stanford prison experiment-disorders and various forms of treatment (OCD, Depression, Schizophrenia)-

Wk 2 Have You Ever Wondered About Your Own Assumptions Discussion.
Discussion 1 Philosophy Begins in Wonder: Have you ever wondered about your own assumptions .1. [page 67, Q 4] If some of your beliefs turned out to be false, would you care? Why or why not?2. In “Speaking in Parables”, Sallie McFague discusses a parable by Franz Kafka. In the second to last paragraph she says, “Metaphorical language…does not take us out of reality but drives us more deeply into it, deforming our usual apprehensions in such a way that we see…not a new reality but the same reality in new perspective.” (p. 574) For this entry, I would like you to play around with the metaphor of “being in over your head”. Typically, the metaphor conjures up someone who is drowning. However, I’d like you to give it a closer look. As you think about the implications of the metaphor some more, what kinds of questions does it raise for you? Is being in over your head necessarily a bad thing? Are there times it would be preferable to be in “over your head”? Does it make you look at your resources or skills differently? Playfully explore the depths of this metaphor. Share some of your insights? Then constructively respond to your peers.
