Part I
(a) Define and compare/ contrast ecosystem ecology and landscape ecology.

Part II
For a study system and natural resource of your choice, demonstrate how you can apply an integration of traditional ecological knowledge (TEK)* and scientific ecological knowledge (SEK)* as a framework to examine, understand, steward, manage, and restore ecological systems. Develop an essay that shows your understanding of the following course content elements:
(a) Identify and briefly discuss two characteristics of TEK.
(b) Compare these two knowledge systems (TEK and SEK).
(c) As a natural resources professional, how could you apply TEK and SEK to your organization’s management approach, practices and/ or decisions to fulfill the management objectives of a particular system? (For instance, one option involves the cultural fire regime concept.)
