Part A – Areas of Vulnerability
Assess the Zazi plot in terms of aviation security, border security, and soft targets. Answer the questions below by focusing on the following chapters in the Forest textbook: Joshua Sinai, p. 116; K. Jack Riley, p. 149; and James Robbins, p. 159. In addition, refer to the Congressional Research Service (CRS) report by Marc Rosenblum, et al., assigned for Week 4.
First, consider post-9/11 enhancements to aviation security, and whether those are relevant to the Zazi plot. Why or why not? Did Zazi and his co-conspirators raise any red flags during air passenger screening? Should they have raised suspicions? Review Table 1, describing selected border threats, on page 26 of the CRS report by Marc Rosenblum and colleagues. Did Zazi and his co-conspirators fit into one of the threat scenarios listed in the table? Could improved border security have helped authorities detect this type of plot?
Finally, what factors likely contributed to the choice of targets by Zazi and his accomplices? What is the feasibility of “hardening” these targets? Refer to the Robbins chapter for a discussion of target types, selection, and consequences.
Part B – Response and Resilience
Refer to the textbook chapter by Joshua Sinai and Part 2 of the ABC video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aosfqxFEc6E[supanova_question]

HEALTH and the ENVIRONMENT.

HEALTH and the ENVIRONMENT..

1) FOOD INC (on youtube) (type in Food Inc full documentary) REQUIRED (you should be able to access either the first or second half, it used to also be on netflix…look around for it) 2) SUGAR: THE BITTER TRUTH (UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA TELEVISION) REQUIRED (either short or long version) 3) TEDTALK by Dr. LUSTIG (REQUIRED) Each of these films and the TEDTALK will enhance your understanding of the obesity epidemic in America. You must watch both films and the TEDTALK and use information from ALL THREE by providing with IN-TEXT CITATIONS and REFERENCES PROPERLY FORMATTED AT THE END OF YOUR POST in order to earn maximum points. 1) After watching the two films and the TEDTALK, discuss the reasons that discussing the obesity epidemic by using a SOCIOLOGICAL IMAGINATION and using CONFLICT THEORY would more clearly explain the obesity epidemic rather than BLAMING THE INDIVIDUAL. The point is to have you think about typical assumptions that focus on the individual (what they eat, their lack of restraint or motivation to lose weight, or just their “poor” food choices), which reflects the commonsense viewpoint many/most use when thinking of this crisis and is also promoted in the media. COMPARE AND CONTRAST what is portrayed in the films with those commonsense assumptions that BLAME the individual. These films and TEDTALK clearly illustrate that it is far more complex an issue than just “individual failings” and includes many powerful social factors. I am asking you to focus on the SOCIAL AND SOCIETAL FACTORS and why these SOCIAL AND SOCIETAL FACTORS are essential to address and deal with in order to make progress in dealing with this health crisis. DO NOT discuss dieting, personal willpower, personal food choices, and so forth ONLY discuss the SOCIAL AND SOCIETAL FACTORS IN order to earn ANY credit on your initial post, you must mention by title what information you are using from the films and provide at least 2 direct examples that are taken directly from EACH film and TEDTALK (6 total examples) to illustrate your point of view. You must describe your examples in detail AND you must use an in-text citation and provide the reference at the end of your post You must discuss the social factors that impact obesity that are mentioned in the films, and You must use the CONFLICT perspective (use your textbook for guidance here) (use an in-text citation for your text: page number, chapter) You must write at least 4 paragraphs that have a minimum of 7 sentences in each paragraph. DO NOT focus on or discuss the personal factors that are related to obesity. If you discuss personal behavior, you will earn a zero on this DB You are to specifically discuss SOCIAL FACTORS ONLY Be sure to provide reference information at the end of your post for maximum points. This must be a minimum of 500 words You must have references to support your thinking ******************************************************************************************************* Resources: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Oq24hITFTY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8G8tLsl_A4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmC4Rm5cpOI

Explain Locke’s Causal Theory of Perception

Part A – Areas of Vulnerability Assess the Zazi plot in terms of aviation security, border security, and soft Explain Locke’s Causal Theory of Perception.

Topic 1. Explain Locke’s Causal Theory of Perception? What is it meant to explain? What relation does it bear to the Primary Quality/Secondary Quality distinction? Does his theory succeed? 2. Searle argues that the mind can be causally reduced to the brain but it cannot be ontologically reduced to the brain. Explain what he means by these two notions. Why, according to Searle, does the causal reduction fail to produce a corresponding ontological reduction in the case of the reduction of mental phenomena to brain phenomena? Is Searle correct? Why or why not?

The term essay is a longer format (2000-2500 words) allowing you to develop your position in much more detail and care. The term essay also requires that you research the topic you have selected. In other respects, the term essay is similar in purpose to the short essays—to take a position and defend it with reasons/arguments. The topic is up to you, but it must be related to the topics we are discussing in class. It must, of course, be related to the course materials, but the exact issue you wish to explore is your choice. Once you have selected a topic, you will prepare a proposal. The proposal must contain: 1. A clear and precise thesis stating the main point or aim of your essay. 2. A summary (about 250 words) of the primary argument of the essay. 1 3. An outline detailing how you will proceed to make your case for your thesis. 4. A bibliography of works cited. A minimum of three (3) external sources are required. Bear in mind as well that the topics are broad enough to allow quite a degree of specialization. At the same time, it would not at all be wise in the space provided to try to discuss them all. So select what you wish to discuss carefully. Content Whatever specific topic you choose, remember that you are expected to explain the argument(s) fully. Next, critically evaluate possible replies. Is the reply sound?

Does it adequately refute the argument(s)? How might a defender of the argument(s) reply? Are these replies critically sound? Why or why not? Your essay should demonstrate an understanding of the underlying philosophical, scientific and logical issues. In addition, your essay must demonstrate progress in your own thinking about the problem. In other words, in addition to explaining the arguments of Paley or Dawkins (or any other views you introduce), you are expected to defend a position, a thesis, and to critically evaluate the arguments of the various thinkers. After you have chosen the position you will defend, the assignment requires that you 1. Clearly formulate and explain the position 2. Give the main argument or arguments in its defense 3. State clearly and forcefully the main objections which would be raised by those holding other positions, and 4. Try to answer (rebut) the objections. Style and Format You are not expected to provide a definitive or unassailable defense of the position you adopt, but you are required to make some contribution of your own to the debate. This means that it is not enough to merely repeat material from the readings or lectures. Your essay should testify to the fact that you have made a determined effort to grapple with the problem. You should design your essay for an audience of people who are of roughly your own degree of education and intellectual development, but who have not done the readings or attended the course. In other words, write for a cold audience. You should also strive for a clear and simple writing style. Make sure that you explain your use of philosophical terminology. In general, try to use short and simple sentences rather than long and complex ones and try to use short and plain words rather than long and fancy ones. Try to organize your essay so that each part of it builds a defense of your position in a way that your audience will be able to follow and understand and in a manner that your audience will find persuasive. Your essay should be between 2000 and 2500 words in length—typed double-spaced (normal font and margins). Essays longer than 2500 words may be penalized. In format, your essay should conform to the standards of the College’s Suggested Rules for the Preparation of Essays, available at the College Library and should follow the MLA style. Further information about writing is available at the OC Library and the Success Center. 2 Though the bulk of the grade is based on the final version, a small percentage of your paper’s score will be based on timely submission of each of the preliminary elements. Note: all stages of the essay must be submitted! Failure to complete either of the preliminary elements of the assignment will result in a failing grade for the final essa

Transgender considerations

Transgender considerations.

Professionals are becoming more aware of transgender considerations as individuals begin to more openly question their gender identity. We observe transgender behaviors often amongst young children. Families and community systems are rapidly becoming challenged to respond appropriately. Although chapter twenty-nine in your textbook questions this, gender dysphoria is no longer considered a professionally appropriate term by the American Psychological Association as gender identity questioning is not considered a disorder by professionals working in this field. As psychologists adopt this phenomenon as potentially natural for the individual, it often continues to require professional intervention and support. How might you, as a therapist, respond to a gender identity questioning client? What personal bias, positive and/or negative, do you bring to such a client relationship? What steps might you take to better prepare yourself, and keep yourself prepared, to support clients in this evolving process? Consider how you might support a family who is struggling in supporting a transitioning family member. Online research should be included in support of your initial response.

Transitions of care and prevention of readmissions.

Transitions of care and prevention of readmissions

Paper details:

The foundation of the study should suggest some theoretical framework to be explained further in this chapter. The literature review thus describes and analyzes previous research on the topic or a gap in information that your project may fill. This chapter, however, should not merely string together what other researchers have found. Rather, you should discuss and analyze the body of knowledge with the ultimate goal of determining what is known and is not known about the topic. This section should contain a discussion of OTHER PEOPLE’s research. This is not the section to include information about your project. Do not include your own opinions or findings from your data. Begin by describing which databases you searched, search terms you used, how you narrowed your search, how you selected those references you will discuss in this section. The Literature Review is what others have written that provide a foundation to the content of your quality improvement activity, an underpinning theory, framework and support for the method you chose for delivery–does that help to expand it? A well-written Literature Review section demonstrates to the reader that you are expert in the problem you examined current, best practice to inform your project. The Literature Review should begin with a paragraph that describes which databases you searched, which search terms you used, which strategies you used, and what you yielded. This shows the extent of your search. Then you describe how you focus on about 35 of the retrieved references and briefly summarize how their content forms the foundation for your project. This section should be about 10 pages and content should be separated with APA first and second level headings. How to perform a Boolean Search Boolean logic is used to search methodically for information about your topic. Boolean operators (named after a mathematician Boole) are simple words (AND, NOT, OR, and AND NOT) that are used as conjunctions to either combine or exclude keywords in a search, which focus results and make them more productive. This will save the writer wasted effort and lost time by focusing on articles that are pertinent to what is being researched. Although search engines and database collections might use them differently, there are certain basic operations that are used in retrieval logic. Proximity Operators (with, near and others) can also help you in searching. AND—requires both terms to be in each item returned. (Narrows the search) OR—either term (or both) will be in the returned document. (Broadens the search) NOT or AND NOT (dependent upon the coding of the database’s search engine)—the first term is searched, then any records containing the term after the operators are subtracted from the results. (Using Parentheses—Using the ( ) to enclose search strategies will customize your results to more accurately reflect your topic. Search engines deal with search statements within the parentheses first, then apply any statements that are not enclosed. Select keywords from your search that are specific to topic and content, as you will use these words under your abstract. Here are some questions you should answer about your capstone. What is the problem you sought to solve or question you sought to answer? What is the impact of this problem on nursing practice or nursing education? How did you design a project to answer this question or solve this problem? What theorists provided a framework for your project? How did you conduct a literature review (what databases, search terms, etc.) to see what others had written about similar topics or if there was a gap in knowledge? How did you gather data to improve the quality of your educational activity? What did the data say? What did the data mean? How did the data evoke in you to do further activities or change your project? What conclusions do you make about your experience with this project?
