The first portion of this assignment should provide background on your organization. This includes minimally a mission statement, vision statement (See the links below for help with mission and vision statements), plan for a hierarchical structure, and a description of the core functions.
For hierarchical structure, either explain or create a proposed hierarchy for your IO. Be sure to explain why you chose that structure and why you think it will work in your organization.
By core functions, I mean that you should describe how it is that the organization will accomplish its mission. For example, two organizations may share the same mission of reducing hunger in Africa. One organization would do so by lobbing for increases in foreign aid, while another may do technological research on irrigation techniques. The core functions section of the paper should be extensive and should describe how inputs are converted into outputs. Be descriptive about how you differ from other organizations that have attempted to address this problem or how you will solve a problem that has been previously unaddressed. Through this section, you should show me that you understand the problem and what is needed to make change. You should also specify the business model. By this, I mean:
1) is it a public, private and nonprofit organizations,
2) how does it survive and
3) if public, where does it fall in government (both level and reporting line within the bureaucracy).
You are encouraged to find research on similar organizations for assistance and to reference, as well as any academic articles on:
organizational development
mission statements
vision statements
core functions of an organization
hierarchical structures
