This may include one other piece of supplementary information such as the price or stock code for in house use.
Using the system of the bar coding for a library collection has become a major undertaking. Background of the Study The proponents will propose the Library Database System for Cavite Institute. At first the proponent’s study was what is which encounter to the Library by the user (students/faculties), Librarian and how the Owner or the Administrator of the said school will provide a good service to their clients to have a good feedback. The study will focus on transaction which done inside the library like borrowing, returning and reserving of books by students, faculties and staffs, and the inventory of the books by the librarian.

Usually the library uses a card catalogue as tools for finding books in the bookshelves but in this point it only gives the location of the books in the bookshelves. One of the problems is to provide a module in the system for maintaining files and records in the library such as the list of books and the borrower’s record.
In developing an automated Library Database System for Cavite Institute the proponents will develop the following: To provide a system that will reduce the time-consuming process during library transaction. To provide a system that will preserve and secure the card catalogues. To provide a computerized system in monitoring overdue books and automatically compute the penalties accurately. To provide computerized that will generate on demand reports. Significance of the Study The study of computerized library database system with barcode technology is to enhance the current manual system for Cavite Institute.
One of the purposes of the study is to provide a module in the system in maintaining the files and records in the library. By this, the librarian can back up important files, organize files, update records, delete records, recover files, secure important files and find important files. The system also aims to provide a module for generating the necessary reports such as the list of books and inventory reports. To make reports updated, precise and ready for printing for each generation. By using a database, the librarian can easily monitor basic book information that will make her task much easier to accomplish especially during peak hours.
With the proposed system, the librarian will take lesser time in locating the books and totally eliminating the problem on books availability. When the books are returned, the librarian can easily get the necessary information about the books on the system, the system will also inform the librarian if the book borrowed is overdue or not. If there is an overdue book, the system will automatically and accurately compute the penalties. The system will provide a payment slip for the student, and the student will pay the necessary amount to the cashier.
