Please provide a response to each following discussion 1,2,3: The ultimate goal of a lean system is a balanced system. Respond to ;1. For this discussion, please choose an industry or a particular business function currently impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. Describe a recent experience you encountered or read about, where there may be a ‘gray (undefined) area’ in lean system theory and public health policy during the recent pandemic. Is there a visible policy? Did the company in question cut corners? What could be said about product or service quality in your scenario?2. The lean system was created in 1990 and allows a process in production to be simpler. Meaning by this reducing the levels and focusing merely on time reduction. Also, time reduction, effectivity, and quality are part of the system. The Lean systems have as a principle the so-called 6S (sort, straighten, shine, standardize, sustain, and safety). The implementation of the Lean System is normally with the goal of improving the operational “availability and reliability of all machinery and equipment to 100 percent” (Keyser & Sawhney, 2013). In the healthcare sector, it is necessary to provide professional collaboration between different disciplines to solve problems and implement new processes, practices, and workflows in general. The lean system applied to healthcare may result in success if well applied. The lean system provides the necessary elements to develop and implement change. Accountability, communication, employee engagement, and transparency are also added to the positive aspects of the system. The Journal of Issues in Nursing exposed the case of the Inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF). The IRF was located in a Midwestern city and their commitment were based on promoting interprofessional patient care. The lead model was adopted so that clinical nursing can improve bedside shift reports (BSR). For example, rehabilitation is a practice that needs from interprofessional practices such as “physiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, physical therapists, and ancillary departments to collaborate to identify and achieve patient goals and outcomes” (Wojciechowski et. Al). In the early spring of 2017, a plan was developed to combine research activities that were translated to the patient in real-time to improve the results of their recovery. Lean Systems in Australian Hospitals: COVID 19 StrategyThe Lean Global Network Journal reported the efforts of the Australian Health care system to counterattack the crisis at the hospitals due to the large amounts of patients. The hospitals have their own commands centers, based on a whiteboard that has valuable information about planning. They portrait key metrics, progress measure with Gantt charts. The board allows us to allocate help depending on demand and visualize the pending patients. Also, the status of supplies was measured and change in real-time on the maps (Fighting Covid-19 with lean healthcare, 2020). Having a piece of visible information updated in real-time has helped to organize effectively inside the health clinics and hospitals. They also used checklists to group patients with the same symptoms, followed by the medicines for the same symptoms and the specialists of the area in the same section of the hospital to ensure rapid checks and to diagnose the patients that need hospital care. The service quality improved as many patients could get medicines and go home and rest after been check by specialists and the ones that needed hospitalization could have space. These distributions have been replicated in many countries including Spain which implemented the checklists in every hospital bed, to evaluate symptoms and move the patients to the indicated distribution.ReferenceInitiative, L. Developed as a way to improve manufacturing efficiency and minimize waste (Stevenson, 2018) lean, more commonly known as lean operations or lean manufacturing. More recently, it has entered common business vernacular as Lean Six Sigma, however, this is a hybrid of six sigma process improvement created by Motorola in the 1980s and lean manufacturing techniques pioneered by Toyota in the mid-1900’s (Stevenson, 2018). It has primarily been geared toward manufacturing and productions operations, although implementation in different business segments such as retail, with varying degrees of success.Lean manufacturing or lean operations, henceforth referred to as lean in this discussion, was born out of the need for Toyota to improve both its efficiency and its cost management, as such, five principles surround lean operations (Stevenson, 2018): Identify customer valuesFocus on processes that create valueEliminate waste to create “flow” Produce on according to customer demandStrive for perfectionAccording to Noda (2015), the goal of lean is to promote operational flow efficiency while achieving effective cost reduction in order to eliminate waste and create continuous business flow. It is generally viewed from one of two points of view: as a management perspective generating guiding principles and as a practical perspective as a set of management practices, tools, and techniques. Or, more simply, a theoretical viewpoint and an operational viewpoint.Lean, in conjunction with other business and process improvement strategies, lends itself well to the creation of a balanced system within an organization. Pryor (2010) discusses the implications of utilizing lean with time-driven-activity-based-costing (TDABC). Both focus on continuous improvement with lean focusing primarily on time and TDABC focusing primarily on cost with both focusing on a reducing non-value-added costs such as waste and excess capacity. By approaching lean implementation as complimentary to other business and process improvement practices such as TDABC, the overall improvement to business cost reduction and process improvement can bring balance to a business, especially manufacturing and production operations.Reference:Noda, T. Ashford University Cultural Views Comparison.

This post serves multiple purposes: 1) To connect our previous Cultural Geography and Political Geography units;  2) To get you to think critically about political elections and events; and, more importantly, 3) To ask you to reflect back on one of the initial concepts discussed in this course — how your experiences are influenced by location.
PROMPT: Compare your current political/social/cultural views with the views of the general population who live in your hometown (or the general area where you grew up or spent a majority of your time). Are your current views the same or are they different from the general population of your home area? How and why do you think your views are different or the same?
***When responding, you do not have to tell us what your political views or affiliations are — I simply want you to discuss how and why your views are or are not the same as where you grew up. (Think about how our experiences are affected by location…)
