(2000). Context-based apprehension versus planning demands: A common biological analysis of anticipatory public speaking anxiety. Communication Education, 49(1), 58-71. Second Step: Write a summary (in your own words) of the article 150-200 words. This study is concerned with communication apprehension. Beatty mentions three possible causes for CA: genetics, social learning, and inadequate skills. The article briefly describes the history of various CA theories. He maintains that much of the genetic work involving twins was not initially handled properly which resulted in too much emphasis on social learning and skills acquisition. The common biological model of communication that this study proposes sees CA as a mostly genetic response to communication. The authors’ study is designed to measure the apprehension caused by speech preparation. Participants were required to deliver two presentations to their classes. One assignment had a large preparation component, and the other had very basic requirements. The researchers tested the apprehension associated with the different speeches and found very little difference in the apprehension. The results according to the researchers diminish the influence of skills acquisition and further develop the common biological model. Third Step: The Focus (Main points) of the article.*****Addresses comm. Anxiety-Proposes a theory of genetic origin.***** explains the causes of CA- genetics* deals with the specific manifestations of anxiety- no definition of specific physicality is presented.* Offers solutions- Being genetic does not offer any practical solutions.Fourth Step: Key Words and definitions.anticipatory public speaking anxiety- People with high CA will experience discomfort in the planning of a speaking event.communication skills acquisitions- The learning of public speaking techniques (e.g., outlining, research, verbal and nonverbal skills that help to create a clear message).communication apprehension – tendency to avoid communication if possible in order to not suffer a variety of anxiety-type feelings. P 58.Step Five: Rationale (why the author conducted the study/ wrote the article).to investigate the anxiety felt prior to the performance and to see if it is caused by inadequate skills. Step Six: Participants and methods used in the study.Participants: 63 undergraduate students (37 female; 26 male) Two classes participated.Method: students were given two speaking assignments with differing preparation requirements, one rigorous and one simplified. They filled out surveys discussing the degree of anxiety that each assignment provided. Step Seven: Findings and Theories.Findings- students felt similar anxiety regardless of the assignment. They felt the same amount of apprehension with simple and difficult tasks.Theories mentioned-genetic inheritance theory, communication skills acquisition theory, communication trait theory, common biological theory (consistent with trait theory), skills deficit theory.Theoretical Perspective- The researchers see communication as primarily an inherited trait which needs to study further to change the methods used to reduce anxiety. They suggest that visualization may assist in anxiety reduction. Step Eight: Quotes and uses.Useful Quotes- “planning skills did not significantly affect anxiety experienced immediately preceding a performance” (p.67). “More research into innovative approaches such as visualization is needed” (p.69). How can/will I use this article- This study is useful in presenting an alternative point of view. It offers a historical perspective on the study of communication anxiety. I am hoping that the extensive bibliography that accompanies this piece will yield more usable material. This study is quantitative which may offer a nice counterpoint to the qualitative pieces in the review of the literature.NO OUTSIDE RESOURCES BESIDES THE JOURNAL ARTICLE.

Strategic Change Case Study

online assignment help Strategic Change Case Study.

Purpose of Assignment The purpose of this assignment is to provide a chance for the student to examine an existing organization and apply research to identify opportunities for strategic change. Assignment Steps Develop a 1,050-word essay to identify one global creative organization, as defined in Ch. 10 and 11 of Mastering Leadership. Analyze the opportunities for strategic change that are evident, citing evidence. Include considerations of culture and structure in addressing those opportunities. Include the following: Identify one organization that could be considered creative, based on definitions in Mastering Leadership. Determine whether or not you believe the organization meets those criteria. Explain why. Discuss the impact of organizational culture and structure on that opportunity for strategic change. Formulate conclusions including personal learning on your analysis. Format your assignment consistent with APA guidelines. Use this Resource chapter 10 and Chapter 11: Mastering Leadership: An Integrated Framework for Breakthrough Performance and Extraordinary Business Results. Wiley Author: Robert J. Anderson & William T. Adams Incorporate this material into the paper also: Chapter 10 starts off giving the data on why Creative Competencies are so strongly and correlated to Leadership effectiveness at .93 score versus Reactive Leadership styles which are strongly inverse to Effectiveness at −.68 score. In the highest performing businesses, those evaluated in the top 10% compared to industry peers, Creative Competency scores average at the 80th percentile compared to the world- wide norm base of 500,000 rater surveys. Reactive Leadership styles are well below the norm at the 30th percentile. The reverse is true in under- performing businesses (bottom 10%). In our Stage of Development study (Figure 10.2), those people assessed as living and leading from a Creative Structure of Mind had average Leadership Effectiveness and Creative Competency scores at the 65th percentile compared to norms. This constitutes a Leadership Quotient of nearly 2.0, suggesting the leaders who function out of a Creative mindset create a big competitive advantage. The Creative Mind is much more capable of leading in today’s complex organizations. Since only 20% of leaders operate out of a Creative mindset, the Development Agenda in most organizations should be to accelerate the development of Creative Leadership, individually and collectively and this is a leadership imperative (Anderson & Adams, 2016). One organization that is creative would be Tesla. Tesla was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers in Silicon Valley who wanted to prove that electric cars could be better than gasoline-powered cars. There were only a handful of alternative energy cars on the road because of the expense, their small size, their slow speed, the inconvenience of not always having electric charging stations available and the short life of the electrical charge. In true creative leadership fashion, in 2008 Tesla improved their current problematic model and created their Roadster model with accelerating speeds from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and the roadster would travel at a range of 245 miles per charge with its lithium ion battery. They have now solved some of the problems of speed and battery life. In 2012, Tesla launched their Model S the world’s first premium electric sedan, with their creative thinking Tesla made a bigger car with room enough for seven people, solving the previous smaller car problems. “Model S was named Motor Trend’s 2013 Car of the Year and achieved a 5-star safety rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Improving even further, in late 2014, Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled two dual motor all-wheel drive configurations of Model S that further improve the vehicle’s handling and performance. The 85D features a high efficiency motor at the front and rear, giving the car unparalleled control of traction in all conditions. The P85D pairs a high efficiency front motor with a performance rear motor for super car acceleration, achieving a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.2 seconds, the fastest four-door production car ever made”. Tesla is constantly working towards their mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. With each new generation, Tesla is striving to make their electric cars more affordable (Tesla’s Mission is to Accelerate the World’s Transition to Sustainable Energy, 2017).
