For this project you will analyze a full-length, peer-reviewed article in a discipline of your choice, published in an academic journal. The purpose of this paper—and a primary purpose of WRIT 1302—is to actively explore the varying disciplinary features of genres. This project begins that exploration by paying close attention to the scholarly article as a genre. Your audience for this assignment is your classroom community of classmates and instructor.
Ultimately, a genre analysis should do three things: (1) make a point about the subject article, (2) read as a critical analysis with strong supporting points and examples from the primary source, and (3) demonstrate understanding of both rhetorical elements and academic conventions.
Page Length: 4 -5 pages
Point Total: 100 points (10% of your final grade)
Your article of choice should be finalized by Friday, Feb.4th within the discussion board . Minimum article length for this paper should be no fewer than 10 pages, (not including citation pages) and be published within the past 10 years.
Composing a Genre Analysis
Using the following guiding questions, define and describe the basic genre features of the article you’ve chosen to study:
1. What is the rhetorical context? Consider the author, purpose, audience, and topic of the article you’ve chosen to study.
2. What conventions are present in the text? Consider the structure, language, tone, and reference conventions of the article.
3. Why is this article representative of the genre of article you have chosen? You made need to refer to chapters 7, 8, 9, or 10 depending upon the genre and academic discipline you are working with for this analysis paper.
Once you have described the genre features of the article, consider the choices the writer or writers made when they wrote the article: Why did they write the article in the way that they did? How do these genre features work together? To what degree does the subject article adhere to the expected conventions of a scholarly article? (See Chapter 6 in Insider’s Guide. You might also find it helpful to peek ahead to Explain how you know the article is or is not representative of the genre.
Be sure to stay focused on the rhetorical and genre features of the article. Do not get bogged down with the issue discussed in the article. Your concern is not what the author says, but how the author says it.
The introduction to your paper should name the article you will analyze, describe the primary methods you will use to analyze its genre features, and explain the goal of your analysis – to analyze an academic article and learn more about the rhetorical context and structure.
The body of your paper might be organized around the two guiding questions, or you might focus on one or two of the genre features that are of specific interest in your article. Of course, you can subdivide the features you are analyzing to address specific elements of the larger categories. For example, if you were analyzing conventions of language, you could address the use of qualifiers, the use of first person, and so on, providing examples from the article and commenting on their usefulness for the writer.
In your conclusion, reflect on what you’ve found. Are there other rhetorical or genre-related issues still to be addressed? What other rhetorical strategies could be explored to analyze the work further? How effective are the strategies the author used, given the intended audience?

Use of dietary enhancement of adult hippocampal neurogenesis as practice change to improve quality of care of patients with neurodegenerative diseases and cognitive decline in the psychiatric primary care setting.

Your Annotated Bibliography assignment is the evidential foundation for your Evidence-Based Presentation assignment. In this assignment, students will pick a topic for the Evidence-Based Presentation and identify one new practice change related to that topic that is not already a standard of care. For example, before it was understood that the degrees of the head of a patient’s bed in immobile patients directly contributed to pneumonia rates, research was done to identify a range of 30 to 45 degrees. Before it was a standard of care, quality improvement projects focused on this practice change. An example in psychiatry might be short CBT bursts added to psychiatry sessions to improve patient mindfulness. This is not already common practice but is shown to be very effective. Select at least six current original research articles published within the last five years to support your chosen practice change. For each article, place each article reference in APA format and write a summary that includes a) the purpose of the research, b) sample information, c) statistical significant or trustworthy results related to your practice change, d) recommendations made by the author(s), and e) your personal comments about the quality of the article. Submit this assignment using the respective link by the due date in Blackboard. Grading Student provided a short description of the chosen practice change Selected at least six related original research articles published within five years from 2014 to 2019 Quality of article summaries

Comparison of two different data analysis methods: Compare two possible ways of analysing the data generated (Nominal Group Technique and Focus Group). Write a comparative paper, identifying the strengths and limitations of each.

Marking criteria:
Critical analysis of the strengths and limitations of the two approaches compared
Critical and reflective use of a range of literature in developing your themes
Reflective insight into the use of the methodsFormat:

 Introduction

Defining Focus Group (with reference to textbooks and articles on research methods)

Defining Nominal Group Technique (with reference to textbooks and articles on research methods — No need to provide the implementation stages as was originally developed for organisational decision making and not for Educational research)

Focus Group: Strengths and Limitations (using a range of theoretical and empirical literature)

Nominal Group: Strengths and Limitations (using a range of theoretical and empirical literature)

Reflective insight into the use of the methods (A comparative experiment):
? I have done a study on Nominal Group Technique (attached) with 14 participants and this study and the findings needs to be explained while comparing with Focus Group
? A similar study on Focus group needs to be conducted with 5 participants on the same topic and then both studies need to be compared with emphasis on strengths and limitations of both the techniques.Critical Analysis Section

Conclusion

Please note: I have already conducted the study on Nominal Group Technique, so a Focus Group Study based on 5 participants (parents of pre-school aged children) and on the same topic needs to be conducted in order to do a comparison of the strengths and limitations of each technique.

PLEASE NOTE: Use references for whatever you say. My profile A student researcher.

Please Note: This essay relates to a comparative study between NGT and Focus Group for EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH. As an example I have attached a PDF but this is for reference only as because this is based on marketing research and I am supposed to write on Educational Research.

Please note: Nominal Group Technique for educational research is totally different from the original conception of its use for managerial decision-making. So, write accordingly.

Framework for Final Policy Analysis Paper

Framework for Final Policy Analysis Paper.

I. Definition of the Problem A. How is the problem defined? What, for example, does pollution, joblessness, or health care mean? B. Who is affected by the problem and in what ways (e.g., people with asthma, unemployed steelworkers, the elderly)? C. Who defines it as a problem? Why do they think it is a problem? One cannot assume that every social problem is recognized as such. D. Who does not define it as a problem? Why not? Is it due to ignorance of the situation, to personal values or ideology, to indifference, to belief in the futility of solving the problem? E. Who are the key decision-makers (individual or groups) that presently control the power and resources that affect the problem? (state legislators? news media? interest groups?)

II. Causal Factors A. [Macro view] What are the social/structural sources of the problem (e.g., distribution of power, wealth and status, political ideologies, societal values and norms, existing policies and programs, culture)? B. [Micro view] What are the sources of the problem inherent in individuals who share the problem? (e.g., lack of education, felony conviction) C. How much verified knowledge is there about the causes of the problem? What are the known, measurable facts?

III. Policy Goals and Objectives (Subjective; use your best-informed judgement) A. What is the most desired goal in respect to the problem? This is a statement of the ideal outcome (e.g., higher education should be 100% state funded, the traffic lights in downtown should be timed, garbage pickup should be privatized). B. What are the achievable objectives? These should be stated in operational, measurable terms. Statements of objectives take into consideration rational and non-rational constraints. Objectives can be specified in relation to one or all of the following: 1. The total societal problem or some aspect of the problem (in one year to reduce by 30% the amount of outstanding child support debt, to reduce by 10% the cost of garbage pickup) 2. The total target and risk population (increase childhood immunizations by10% in one year) 3. A proportion or sub-group of that population (reduce by 20% the number of uninsured children) IV. Policy Development A. What policy has been developed to deal with the problem? Briefly discuss the history and scope of this policy (the policy you are researching). B. What is the legislative history and political processes through which this policy developed or would need to develop (or a change in this policy took place)? C. What are the core values (e.g., equality, equity, fiscal savings, revenue enhancing) or ideology (limited government, incrementalism, economics) on which this policy is based? D. What choices (including value choices) does this policy make regarding: a) allocations (recipients of policy benefits); b) service delivery (how the policy is implemented); and c) financing and funding (how will the policy be paid for)? E. What is your assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of this policy? What is the policy actually doing or accomplishing, rather than what is claimed? F. Are the results of these policies and programs being evaluated? If not, why not? If yes, how are the findings being utilized? G. Based on the best information about effectiveness, are these policies and programs likely to reduce, increase, or leave the problem unchanged? In other words, what is happening in the implementation of these policies?

Hackers and Hacktivists

Hackers and Hacktivists.

Short essay, 7-9 pages, including references page. The essay will be typed, double-spaced, with a recognizable and coherent references section at the end. The essay will have a thesis or statement of position, arguments in support of the thesis/position, and evidence in support of the arguments drawn from the class materials on hackers and hacktivists. The topic is this: all of the materials that we have watched, listened to, and read about Anonymous, Edward Snowden, Aaron Swartz, WikiLeaks, Bradley/Chelsea Manning, and whistleblowing, pose ethical dilemmas. Drawing on the major cases we have discussed, develop and defend your position with regard to the rightness or wrongness or undecidability of exposing secrets. Whistleblowers and hacktivists are faced with many hard choices between loyalty to an employer and free speech; exposing wrongdoing for the public or greater good or protection of colleagues and checks and balances within the system; testing their own courage against fear of being seen as self-interested and irresponsible, maybe criminal; wrestling with fighting the system from within, or resigning their jobs, risking destroying their lives, etc. • KEY APPROACHES IN WRITING YOUR ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY • 1. Deepen your understanding of the key figures by investigating their histories and predicaments, legal and otherwise. Also, view the documentaries and listen to the podcasts. • 2. Provide a detailed descriptive narrative about the group and/or individual selected. • 3. Pose the ethical quandary by utilizing poignant examples, underlining the beliefs of those whose support for an operation resulted in their arrest and sentencing, and the persistence of their beliefs and criticisms of specific elements of the legal system. • 4. Take a position, defend it, use scholarly citations, arguments, and accurate accounts of events. • 5. Three criteria in grading: i. position articulation and set-up of the quandary; ii. scholarly support and rigor of the argumentation; iii. conclusions and implications drawn from the position taken, defended, and applied, as well as consequences accounted for or envisioned • 6. 10/10/10 grid • Fine points: Articulate your position: important considerations from the perspective of grading will be clarity, completeness, and soundness of the position; how you support your position will concern citational relevance, the rigor of the premises you uses, and the force of your arguments; regarding implications, I want to see you move beyond mere summary and explain how you both draw and us your conclusions, applying them to similar events/person/circumstances, for instance, or developing new policies
