Background Information Nationalism was a concept that existed in most parts of Europe and is considered to be very important in the history and development of Europe to the current state. It is considered to be primarily a phenomenon of Western Europe. It started in Germany and was later adopted in Italy, France, Spain and England. There was the formation of many nationalistic and socialistic political parties in places like Spain, Romania, Germany and Italy among other places. This widespread hatred had infiltrated the entire Germany society from politicians through the working class to the ordinary citizens. Therefore, Hitler simply saw an opportunity and exploited it, and thus he ended up realizing the dream of most Germans and Europeans at the time. Such kind of unexplained baseless hatred led to the Holocaust. In the movie, given that it draws heavily from the Holocaust, hatred and prejudice can explain the events that transpire in the short 32-minutes of horror. Another possible reason why such an incidence might happen is the quest to instill fear on one’s enemies. When the Holocaust started, Germany was in a war, which it had started by invading Poland. After the Britain, the Soviet Union, France, and the United States joined forces against German, Hitler perhaps sensed defeat and decided to demonstrate to his enemies what he would do to them by killing people within his jurisdiction. For a long time, the United States had been a sympathizer of the Jews given that the US natives were Jews. Therefore, Hitler might have thought that by hurting the American darlings he would be hurting the United States. Likewise, in the movie, the occurrences might have been fuelled by a miscalculated move to hurt one’s enemy indirectly. The last possible cause of the events in the movie might be ethnic cleansing. As aforementioned, the presence of Jews in Europe was a thorn in the flesh of the Europeans. For instance, Germans thought that Jews were the cause of their many problems. Therefore, ethnic cleansing would be the best way out. In the 1994 Rwandan genocide, which also qualifies as a holocaust, ethnic cleansing was at the center of the killings. The majority Hutus executed the minority Tutsis in an ethnic cleansing move where close to over 1 million people lost their lives (Gourevitch 71). The most recent case is the Southern Sudan conflict where militias are executing individuals associated with the Dinka community where the ruling president hails. Similarly, in the movie, the need to cleanse a certain ethnic group might be the force behind the massacre. In most cases, such moves end up in civil wars, which might degenerate to a genocide and further evolve to a holocaust involving the mass murder of innocent lives as shown in the film. Nursing is a life long learning profession. The main aim of the nurse is to provide and deliver better care to the patients and maintain the healthy environment. In the nursing profession evidence based practice has played an important role in enhancing the delivery of the care and treatment to the patients.
Evidence based practice is not only concerned with the patient’s treatment, care or diagnosis but also enables nurses to act and perform, make decisions and critical thinking. But sometimes there are some of the barriers occurs while practicing evidence based care or practice. The lack of up to date evidence as well as proper answer of the questions in the evidence based practice makes it more critical. Sometimes the evidence based practice or the information provided are not updated and which results in wrong calculation or working strategy. Most of the time at present scenario evidence based practice is not accepted due to lack of proper information which causes barrier in evidence based practice. According to, education is necessary but not sufficient to change practice, and didactic continuing education alone does little to change practice behavior. There is little evidence that inter professional education as compared to discipline-specific education improves EBP. Interactive education, used in combination with other practice-reinforcing strategies, has more positive effects on improving EBP than didactic education alone. “Nurses must identify barriers to the use of evidence in practice and implement strategies to overcome them” (Houser, 2018, p.27).
Evidence based practice has many advantages regarding taking care of the patients. For example, a patient is more prone to get infection in the hospital. To prevent this infection, proper hygiene, cleaning of the hospital as well as disinfectant are used to prevent transmission of infection. This maintenance is the evidence based practice. This will improve the quality of care provided to the patient.
The nursing profession is not only confined to a particular place or duty but it has vast responsibilities as well as duties. Educating people, promoting health care and also providing counseling to the patient are important task. Critical thinking skills is most helpful as it enables nurses to act, think as well as make decisions at unfavorable circumstances.
One new area that I believe will be helpful for me as I continue in the nursing profession is to join the journal team at my facility. I plan to be an active member where I can help make an impact on improving areas in the nursing profession that needs improvement.
