Evaluating Two Middle Range Theories Nursing Essay

Share this: Facebook Twitter Reddit LinkedIn WhatsApp The purpose of this paper is to evaluate two middle range theories abilities to test the concept of comfort for the practice question “Do neonatal nurses who care for dying infants who attend an end of life care educational training program compared to neonatal nurses who do not attend the program experience a difference in comfort levels (Comfort Level for Caring for Dying Infants (CLCDI)) when caring for a dying infant? ” A summary of two middle range theories the Comfort Theory (Kolcaba, 1994) and the Theory of Self-Efficacy (Resnick, xxxx) will be summarized and then critiqued using Smith and Liehr’s (xxxx) Framework for Evaluating Middle Range Theory. The discussion will conclude with a summary of strengths and weakness’ of the theories and a research hypothesis to reflect that reflects the most appropriate theories conceptual definitions and propositions. Introduction Background Despite nurses as frontline caregivers for dying patients and their families many nurses have identified that they struggle with the responding adequately to the emotional devastation to parents and siblings when caring for a neonate with an unresolved terminal condition (Frommet, 1991). With the advances in neonatal care and life sustaining treatments, sick and very preterm infants do not often die in utero, at birth, or shortly after birth, but instead they often live much longer in a healthcare paradigm of comfort care and dignified death. This relatively new emersion of the end of life model integrates a more holistic approach which considers a more comprehensive view of the patient’s needs (emotional, spiritual, and medical) (Mallory, 2002; Mallory, 2003; WHO, 2002). With this paradigm shift, health care professionals are obligated to assess the adequacy of their own knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about death and dying. Multiple studies regarding nurses preparation for dealing with death and dying have consistently found that nurses that nurses do not feel educationally prepared to care for dying patients and insist that healthcare professionals should receive additional education on end of life care to bridge the deficit gap (Frommet, 1991; Robinson, 2004; White, Coyne, Patel, 2001; Beckstrand, Callister, Kirchhoff, 2006). These findings have led to a further observation that nurses caring for these complex patients regularly experience moral distress from competing principles of their personal, collegial, organizational, and religious/spiritual ethics (Frommet, 1991). Practice Problem To help ease this moral distress an evidence based end-of -life educational training program for NICU nurses has been successfully implemented in several neonatal intensive care units (NICU’s) to increase the nurses comfort level of caring for neonates and their families at the end of life (Bagbi, Rogers, Gomez,

Two Biology activities

Two Biology activities. I’m stuck on a Biology question and need an explanation.

Choose any 2 activities from the lesson that helped you to learn or understand the concepts, ideas or information addressed in this lesson chapters (chapter 6 & chapter 7). List the Lesson and then activity title and explain the concept it covered. Then explain specifically how it enhanced your understanding. You must write two paragraphs for each activity, one about the content and one about your learning.
Ch: 6,11761,4089995-,00.html
CH: 7,11761,4090099-,00.html

Scoring Guide
-Two Activities per each lesson (not per chapter )
-Title paragraph with name of Activity (complete name)
-First paragraph about content of activity
-Second paragraph about your new, renewed learning. What did you learn, what was a review, what an aha, what was fascinating, what was scary ie.
-You must include at least 5 sentences for each paragraph
-You will have a total of 4 short paragraphs per lesson
For example see below:
Lesson 1 Activity 1A: The Levels of Life Card Game (1.1),11761,4089398-,00.html
Content- This game covered the concepts of the hierarchy of life from cells to ecosystem. This is the idea of classifying systems from lower to higher or maybe a better way to say it is from smallest to largest. It demonstrates how one entity fits into another. Sort of like those little stacking painted dolls that look like wooden eggs, or maybe a child’s toy. This activity shows the hierarchy of life and different levels build upon the others. Each screen shows different organisms and I click and drag to put them into the correct category. The game reviews the kingdom, phylum, class, order, genius, species of different organisms ie plants and animals and bacteria and protists and fungi
Learning- I have always been confused by populations and communities and this gave me a visual and hands on example to help me remember. I am a global learner and do not want to know the steps of a process until I get the broad overview. So this game provided me with the steps but also I could manipulate the “big picture” and still have all of the information in front of me in color and organized. I also like the option of clicking on a vocabulary term and getting the definition on the screen while I study. The concepts are not confusing, I just never really took the time to see the patterns. Plus I liked the pictures and colors to actually show the cells, etc. I could see the “small to large”. In future activities I will probably have more questions regarding the content and concepts.

Covid 19 Vaccine Biotech Firm Moderna Question

programming assignment help Covid 19 Vaccine Biotech Firm Moderna Question.

I’m working on a case studies case study and need support to help me study.

In summer 2020, Stephane Bancel, CEO of biotech firm Moderna, faces several challenges as his company races to develop a vaccine for COVID-19. The case explores how a company builds a digital organization, and leverages artificial intelligence and other digital resources to speed its operations, manage its processes and ensure quality across research, testing and manufacturing. Built from the ground up as such a digital organization, Moderna was able to respond to the challenge of developing a vaccine as soon as the gene sequence for the virus was posted to the Web on January 11, 2020. As the vaccine enters Phase III clinical trials, Bancel considers several issues: How should Bancel and his team balance the demands of developing a vaccine for a virus creating a global pandemic alongside the other important vaccines and therapies in Moderna’s pipeline? How should Moderna communicate its goals and vision to investors in this unprecedented time? Should Moderna be concerned it will be pegged as “a COVID-19 company?”

RE: Discussion – Week 9

Nurses nowadays are more involved or engaged in many health sectors mostly policies and advocacies to continue giving optimum care to their patients. Nurses are seeing a lot of workflow that needs to revised and/or change. The American Nurses Association provide support for state nurses association as they advance their own advocacy agendas, and help federal agencies and elected officials propose and enforce new laws that will advance the nursing profession (American Nurses Association, 2018).
Based on the analysis undertaken “policy influence is nurses” ability in influencing decisions and affairs related to health through political knowledge, effective communication, and collaboration with other members of the health team, which results in the improvement of nurses’ job environment and increase patient outcomes (Arabi, Rafii, Cheraghi & Ghiyasvandian, 2014). Nurses learned from their daily experiences in patient care, they start as a beginners and realized that there are a lot of policies that needs to be reviewed, our team of nine in our department meet twice a month to review policies that needs to be updated, some of them are new nurses with few years experiences, they have fresh ideas and eager to make changes for the safety of our patients and staff. “When the abilities of beginners are developed, they can involve in policy acumen, which is the ability to analyze policies and can actively analyze organizational process and health care services (Arabi, Rafii, Cheraghi & Ghiyasvandian, 2014).
Nurse practitioners are essential advocates for health care policy (Chilton, 2015). Those NPs who are members of professional nursing organizations have the credentials to offer relevant personal testimony supporting the need for a bill (Chilton, 2015).
Most challenges in program evaluation can be addressed with appropriate planning, the use of effective evaluation design, and the use of reliable or consistent indicators that can be measured using standardized methods of data collection (Milstead & Short, 2019).
There are numerous factors that affecting nurses and Nurse practitioners ability to be politically active in influencing health policy development, they don’t have extra time due to commitment in their daily nursing jobs, some nurses are not trained or don’t have enough knowledge or they don’t have the resources on how to get involve in policy making or review, and most of them are not interested in policy.
Some ways to overcome these challenges are; giving nurses and nurse practitioners extra trainings about policy and its effect to health care, give examples and credit units or extra points for their yearly salary raise, role models, being involved and gaining more experiences in policy development, educated and knowledgeable about health systems and policy development process, political activism and conducting research to expand knowledge (Sharrif, 2014). Being supported by professional organizations and developing leadership skills (Shariff, 2014).
Getting involve in many professional associations are a great example to start advocating for these opportunities that nurses and advance nurse practitioners has, knowing when to start and who to go to is another strategy also. I mentioned above that having a good role model would guide you through out the process. Thorough training and education from various associations to gain knowledge will be beneficial. Experiences from previous and current work are the best tool to use towards policy making and review approvals.

Business information System Paper

Business information System Paper. I’m studying for my Business class and don’t understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?

1. Paper must be at least 7 pages/1250 words in length. This includes a cover page and a reference page.

2. Follow the APA format: Feel free to use the provided APA template found in the “Professor Lloyd’s Resources” folder.
3. Your paper MUST include a minimum of 4 refrences
4. The purpose of this paper is to begin exploring how information systems are used to improve operational efficiency. This paper will include the following 5 sections addressing the initial phases of understanding the problem and how the organization’s environment will shape possible solutions.
Select an organization that you feel could benefit from an improvement in some area of its operations or delivery of its services (publicly traded companies are better as there is more information available).
Define the basic characteristics of the organization (size, industry, annual revenues and profit, competitors, and any relevant regulatory issues).
State the inefficiency/deficiency you seek to improve.
Characterize the problem in a quantifiable manner. This means that you should be able to describe the impairment in terms of production inefficiencies in units, number of customers served in each period, amount of revenue lost or unrealized etc.
Describe your proposed solution.
Your description should be in sufficient detail that the reader doesn’t have to ask, “how are you going to do that”.
For each portion of the proposed solution you should describe the changes to the organization and the existing process that will need to be made.
Describe each of the underlying technologies your proposed solution will require. As an example, if you were solving a supply chain issue and trying to speed up a receiving process, you may use bar code scanners and/or RIFD transmitters/receivers to more quickly ingress the received items into inventory. You would also need to discuss the technologies that would allow the data to be stored, retrieved, and the physical infrastructure and network elements that would allow this to happen.
Provide a conclusion that summarizes the previous 3 sections. The conclusion should recap the company, problem, and the proposed solution ending with a quantifiable benefit as the result of the proposed solution. This benefit should be in terms of not only production/service metrics, but also extrapolated into a revenue/profit increase. As an example, if your solution reduced supply receiving time by “X” percent, that percentage would be deducted from the total man hours needed in a shift/day. Those man hours multiplied by the prevailing rate for that labor would give you an hourly savings, which would then be multiplied by however many units of the selected time measurement occur in a year.
