This is so-called “automated driving” or “driverless vehicles.” There is no question that within the next 5 to 10 years, the bulk of vehicles on the roads will switch from being directly human controlled to being largely robotically controlled, with only sporadic if any human intervention. For all of human history, transportation has required the direct involvement of a human being, whether that be the driver of an oxcart or the driver of a Mercedes 18-wheeler. Management of vehicles has been one of the central preoccupations of humans for at least the last 100 years. Giant industries are based on this technological framework. The introduction of robotically controlled vehicles promises to disrupt these giant industries in critical ways, even eliminating some of them entirely and reshaping others to be almost unrecognizable. How will society deal with these issues? What will survive this disruptive transition, and what will not? What will our society look like when it is completely transformed by this virtually inevitable technology? Who will the winners and losers be? Any look at disruptive innovation always generates more questions than answers, but by examining those questions we may begin to formulate better ones and eventually arrive at a more complete understanding. If we do not, then we will be simply whipsawed by our own technologies whose underlying values may be significantly different from those we would like to see our society enact.Case AssignmentAfter reading the required background material and finding at least two other resources on your own, write a 5- to 7-page paper discussing the topic:“Self-driving vehicles as a disruptive technology”You should begin your paper by summarizing what is currently known about disruptive innovations and their effects. Then provide a brief description of the self-driving vehicle technology and where it currently stands today. You should then proceed to address the questions posed in the case discussion above: namely, how will society deal with these issues? What will survive this disruptive transition, and what will not? What will our society look like when it is completely transformed by this virtually inevitable technology? Who will the winners and losers be? Conclude your paper with a couple of paragraphs summarizing your views on self-driving vehicles in particular, and how society and organizations might to deal more effectively and productively with disruptive technologies generally.Assignment ExpectationsLength: The written component of this assignment should be 5-7 pages long (double-spaced) without counting the cover page and reference page.Organization: Subheadings should be used to organize your paper according to the questions.Grammar and Spelling: While no points are deducted for minor errors, assignments are expected to adhere to standard guidelines of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence syntax. Points may be deducted if grammar and spelling impact clarity. We encourage you to use tools such as grammarly.com and proofread your paper before submission. As you complete your assignment, make sure you do the following:Answer the assignment questions directly.Stay focused on the precise assignment questions. Do not go off on tangents or devote a lot of space to summarizing general background materials.Use evidence from your readings to justify your conclusions.Cite at least five credible resources.Reference your sources of information with both a bibliography and in-text citations. See the Student Guide to Writing a High-Quality Academic Paper, including pages 11-14 on in-text citations. Read the following case and answer the questionsAs a counselor in an outplacement firm, you’ve been working with Irwin for six months to find him a new position. During that time, he has completed extensive assessment work, to determine if he’s in an appropriate profession or if he might benefit from a career change. The results of the assessment indicate that Irwin has low self-esteem, probably could benefit from psychotherapy, and is most likely ill-suited for his current profession. Irwin has been actively interviewing for a position that’s very similar to two others he has held and lost. He desperately wants and needs this job. The company where he is interviewing happens to be one of your most important clients. You receive a call from the head of human resources at the company, who tells you that Irwin suggested she call you for information about his abilities, interests, and personality style as measured by the assessment process. She also asks you for a reference for Irwin. Since he has, in effect asked that you share information with this woman.Assignment Question(s):1. Identify and explain the ethical dilemma in this case? What are your obligations to Irwin, who is your client in this case?(minimum 400 words)2. The HR asks you to share information with her, is it okay for you to give her an honest assessment of Irwin? (minimum 400 words)3. Is there a way for you to be honest, yet not hurt Irwin’s chances to obtain this job? Or is that important? What will you do? Essay on Nursing Education
Share this: Facebook Twitter Reddit LinkedIn WhatsApp As the profession of nursing continues to evolve, from a profession of ensuring that patients are well fed, clean and are healing in a clean environment to one of technical and life-saving interventions, nursing education must also change from a face to face experience to one that delivers information quickly and with a dash of entertainment (Ridley, 2007), Nursing educators today have many different means at their disposal to accomplish this, they can use simulations, distance learning and games to teach skills and technology needed in nursing today. Educational Games One of the fastest growing areas of teaching is the use of educational games. Educational games are drawing a great deal of attention and funding and can allow educators another avenue to explore in the constantly changing area of technological education (McGonigle

Module 3 Opening Discussion 1212 unread replies.1212 replies.PurposeThe purpose of the Opening Discussion is to allow us to directly think about a philosophical question or problem without the bias that might result from prior knowledge of the ideas and arguments of important philosophers. This direct approach to a philosophical question or problem sets the stage for our inquiry into the philosophical theories and arguments covered in the module. It furthermore is the first step toward a greater self-awareness of our own individual intellectual biases and assumptions. The Opening Discussion MUST be completed at the beginning of the module during the timeframe specified in the course calendar. Please make sure to carefully follow the directions provided and adhere to the deadlines specified in the course calendar.DirectionsClick on ‘Reply’ to create your Opening Discussion POST in response to the prompts below. In your post, please address the following:Consider the following claims: “The purpose of the heart is to pump the blood through the body.” Or; “The purpose of a tiger’s stripes is to break up the outline of the animal for better camouflage.” Do you consider these claims *scientific* claims? (Remember our requirements for scientific explanation.) Carefully explain your reasoning. In general, do you think that there is *purpose* in nature? That living things are ‘designed’ to function as they do? Why? Why not? Please make sure to provide an example, and carefully explain your reasoning?Respond to at least two of your classmates. In order to respond to a classmate, open the classmate’s post and click ‘Reply’. Carefully explain why you agree or disagree with their views on purpose in nature (and concrete examples are always helpful). Make sure to be specific and carefully explain your reasoning. You must create your POST before you can reply to your classmates. Therefore, you should create your POST a day or two before the discussion deadline.Your initial post should be about 200-300 words in length, and your responses to classmates should each be about 100-200 words in length, but feel free to be as detailed as you wish.Your post and your responses must be written in proper English (correct spelling and grammar, and appropriate style). It is recommended to write your post and responses using a word processing program and copy and paste the completed post and responses. This will avoid losing work in case of internet outage, etc. You are encouraged to comment on your classmate’s feedback to your initial post and keep the (civilized!) discussion going.

Drone Applications in the Aftermath of the Upcoming Cascadia Subduction Zone Earthquake
Drone Applications in the Aftermath of the Upcoming Cascadia Subduction Zone Earthquake. It’s All Up in the Air: Drone Applications in the Aftermath of the Upcoming Cascadia Subduction Zone Earthquake Abstract: Drones are becoming an increasingly popular resource for emergency management and disaster relief due to their range in capabilities, accessibility, and benefits over piloted aircraft and satellites. They aid in situational awareness, search and rescue, supply transportation, and communication in immediate post-disaster environments as previously demonstrated in the aftermath of landslides, hurricanes, fires and earthquakes. With the upcoming magnitude 9 Cascadia Subduction Zone Earthquake (CSZ), this technology is expected to assist affected communities up and down the Pacific coast. Federal, state, and local governments as well as humanitarian organizations are currently using and further developing drone technology and policy to utilize in emergencies and disasters. Further work on policy implementation, information, and ethics is required prior to the occurrence of CSZ event.
