Discussion question: Are culturally sensitive treatment plans possible? Why or Why not? How does the developmental stage of the client influence the treatment plan? Please include at least two scholarly journal articles in your posting. Classmate response: As each client is unique and differentiates from one another, their treatment plan should also follow suit. Culture is a huge aspect of what individuals consist of, and ignoring a client’s cultural background is ignoring them. Therefore, collaborating on a culturally sensitive treatment plan is necessary to provide the best therapy possible to the client (Psychology Today, 2022). Cultural sensitive treatment plans cause the developers to focus on what has formed the client into who they are today. How has the client’s culture influenced their growth and learning stages? One example could be that education was not highly instilled into the client and, therefore, may be illiterate, and assigning reading articles will not be appropriate? What if the client speaks English but only reads and writes another language? Are there any learning disorders or challenges to introducing new ideas and behaviors? There are so many aspects that the client’s developmental stages influence their treatment plan, and therefore why treatment plans must have collaborated with an open mind. Psychology Today. (2022).
