Continuous Quality Improvement
Continuous quality improvement (CQI) is a quality management process that calls on HealthCare workers to continuously ask themselves what they’re doing and how they can do it better ( McLaughlin & Kaluzny, 2020). It’s made with the intention to improve healthcare by identifying problems and implementing and monitoring corrective measures and studying the effectiveness.
I would apply (CQI) in my current position to optimize sepsis care to improve early recognition and outcome. Sepsis is a well-known issue in many hospitals like my institution and is a major cause of mortality in the United States. Nearly half the deaths in hospitals in the United States are linked to sepsis and identifying it can be challenging.
Using a comprehensive data-driven approach provided by CQI to facilitate receptive detection and standardized treatment of sepsis will help make certain improvements such as reduction in mortality for patients as a result of sepsis and septic shock. It will also reduce the length of stay in our emergency department for severe sepsis patients and reduce their number in the intensive care unit with severe sepsis and septic shock (McLaughlin & Kaluzny, 2020). I will continue using this plan to improve outcomes in our healthcare facility and enhance quality care for patients with sepsis.
