Costco needs to maintain an up-to-date strategy that fits the organization and consumers to stay on top. 8. Are Costco’s prices too low? Why or why not? Costco’s prices aren’t too low. Costco is meeting the needs and expectations of the organizations consumers, while increasing profitability by offering low price items. It’s a win-win situation, customers enjoy the savings and the organization is able to continuously increase total revenue annually. 9. Does Costco pay its employees too much? Does it make sense for Costco to compensate its employees so much better than the employees at Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club?
Why or why not? Based off of the material Costco’s starting employee wages as of 2008 were rather high, especially in the warehouse industry. Perhaps depending on which region a particular Costco was located could affect the hourly wage for an employee. The cost of living in a region can contribute to what employees are paid for the same position. The seemed adequate from what I know about the retail business and just for a beginning hourly wage. Costco’s CEO, Jim Sinegal, believes that a well-compensated labor force is essential to achieving the organization’s strategy in the purpose it was intended.
Member’s of the labor force whether in an hourly position or a managerial position find a reason to wok more diligent for an employer recognizes their worth. This gives employees an incentive to maintain an excellent work ethic with increased productivity and provides Costco with less labor turnover rates. Lower prices don’t have to mean lower wages. In comparison to Sam’s Club and BJ’s Wholesale, Costco value their employees and realizes that their labor force is a key asset to their organization and overall success.
Costco leads in sales, profitability and productive. 10. What recommendations would you make to Jim Sinegal regarding the actions that Costco management needs to take to sustain the company’s growth and improve its financial performance? The warehouse clubs produced nearly $120,000,000,000 in the US for 2008. Costco held almost 53% of the sales in the membership warehouse industry in the US and Canada, while Sam’s Club held an estimated 37% and BJ’s Wholesale together with other small warehouse clubs took in 10% of the annual sales.
The industry has gone through tremendous growth overall with growth being 20% greater than the retail industry. In order for Costco to sustain as the industry leader, the organization will need to constantly be aware of their consumer base, maintain a strong core of business and stay ahead of their competitors. The economy effects the way consumers spend, which allows Costco to provide even better deals in comparison Sam’s Club and BJ’s Wholesale. The organization must stay aware of the economy which influence consumer spending.
The chief elements that launched the organization are those elements that brought consumers into their various retail locations. Improving and expending these elements to keep other smaller corporations and consumers intrigued will bring loyalty, because without consumers what is Costco…? Costco’s ability to develop innovative ideas, programs or incentives will maintain the organization freshness to the outside. This works with investors, employees and consumers alike. These are the 3 tangible forces that drive Costco’s financial success.
what moral goodness entails
Kant, and Mill (utilitarianism) each provide different answers to the question “What is a good life?” Write an essay in which you explore at least two of these thinkers and argue for the most compelling response to questions about what moral goodness entails. Your account need not agree with the authors that you engage, but you must defend your thesis in dialogue with them.Your thesis should answer and clearly defend your understanding of the meaning of goodness and what the necessary and sufficient conditions for goodness are.You also should explicitly highlight the ways that the authors diverge (from each other and/or you) and avoid an “all of the above” approach that elides those differences.
I have already written a little bit about intro and body parts and please write the following 4 pages. Only use the book I uploaded as references.
