Mountains vs. Beach “Vacation”, one of the greatest words ever invented. Warm weather with the sand between your toes, or snow falling and your snowboard boots tied tight. Generally the two places that people decide to vacation at are the beach, or snowy mountains. Though both places are extremely different, they also have the biggest similarity that there is its vacation! The weather, the activities to partake in, and actual locations of each are the major differences in these two vacation ideas. Which would you prefer? The beach, enough said.
The warm weather, the rumble of the ocean, the smell of the salt water, warm; sometimes hot sand between your toes, and a perfect tan. Now this is what I would call a vacation. Generally, the weather is warm so you can travel light to your favorite vacation spot because you’ll only need to pack shorts and tank tops which will help you not pay the extra baggage fees for having your luggage be too heavy. Where the weather is hot, there is always AC around, whether you’re driving to the beach, you have it in your car, or while you want to go shopping, there is always a place to escape the heat.
Getting a tan, a real tan, not a tanning bed tan, because, it is obvious whether your tan is real or fake. Most people from New England lack the right amount of Vitamin D that is needed, but being able to lie in the hot sun for just a couple hours is not only relaxing, but rewarding for your body. Not to mention, everyone always looks better when they’re tan! Snowy mountains are ideal for some people, but not for me. The snow is cold, wet, and inconvenient which is totally unlike the beach! Vacationing in the mountains consists of packing at least two suitcases of snow clothes, jeans, coats, sweatshirts, and thermal wear.
Which all sounds like a heavy load, and if you’re flying to your vacation spot could pose as a problem for the weight of your luggage. A lot of the people who vacation in the mountains and where the snow is usually partake in snow sports like snowboarding or snow skiing. One of the positives in taking a vacation to the snowy mountains is after your day of being outside in the cold, you can head into the lodge and enjoy a nice cup of hot coffee or hot chocolate to warm up. If you’re looking to stay in shape for the winter season these are definitely two sports to pursue.
They are a good way to get a good work out without actually considering you working out. This, however, is probably one of the benefits for the winter time because unlike the beach vacation you have to be more physically active to enjoy this vacation spot. Snowmobiling is another fun activity that can only take place where there is snow. Snowmobiling can be a lot like jet skiing in the summer except one is on water, and one is on snow, but the concept is quite the same. Whether your vacation is in a warm tropical place with the beach and sand, or a cold wintery mountain, it’s still a vacation.
Many people don’t take enough vacations so these people I’m sure, would be pleased with either. On any vacation, mountain or beach, you are taken care of, there is no house work that needs to be done, and someone else picks up after you. You enjoy the company or lack of company on vacation and it’s a time to wind down and just relax. One similarity between the two spots is that you can choose to be physically active at either. At the beach you can water ski, Jet Ski, walk on the beach, or play sports in the sand, such as volleyball or football. On a vacation in the mountains there is skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and snow shoeing.
So, depending on your preference for what you believe to be relaxing, a snowy mountain vacation or a warm beach vacation, both have their advantages and disadvantages and both have comparisons and contrasts. Just remember that when you choose to take a vacation that you change it up. Each vacation I’ve ever been on to the beach has been wonderful, and the times I have gone to the mountain for a couple days are always rewarding and a wonderful time. Just remember you are on vacation somewhere and you are there to enjoy your time so make the best of it.
