An Over View Of The Restaurant Industry Marketing Essay

A food catering establishment known as a Restaurant offer food and drinks to the customer in return for money. Restaurants also offer take-out and delivery options. There are large variety of restaurants and restaurant chains in the world that specialize on the main chef’s cuisines or specific service models. Modern age restaurants were established during the 18th century in Europe where the business is mainly serving of food as per the order given by the customer. The first restaurant was established in France in 1765 by the name Restaurant that offered soups to customers. It was opened by A. Boulanger, a soup vendor. The first luxury restaurant was opened in France by name La Grande Taverne de Londres in 1782. Paris was the cultural and commercial hub during the time of evolution of restaurants. There was demand from customers for individual tables, individual orders and flexible lunching times and payment based on the item ordered. The kind of menus also segmented the restaurant business. The main advantage of restaurant pattern is that the restaurants can serve the customers what they want. Restaurants as we see in the present form have supposed to be originated during the time of French revolution. Both revolutionaries and counter revolutionaries were attracted to the restaurants. Revolutionaries claimed restaurants as a means for breaking the traditional common meals, while counter revolutionaries called restaurant lunching to be an uncivilized way of living. The system of printed menu appeared in 1770. Penalty was levied for guests stealing food from the hosts of the restaurants or hosts stealing food from the guests. The penalty for theft from a restaurant was 8 years of forced labor. The most famous restaurant in Paris during the 19 the century was Café Anglais which served classic dishes like sole Duglere and potage Germiny. Many of the world’s finest chefs were from France including Georges Auguste Escoffier who organized kitchen teams consisting of trained experts. One of the world’s finest restaurants was established during the 20th century called Resturant de la Pyramide in Vienna. French restaurants today are usually in one among the three categories, the bistro and inexpensive establishment, a medium-priced restaurant and the classy and elegant ones. In other European countries, also restaurants emerged during the same time. IN Italy Botteghe originated in the 16 th century for serving coffee. Many Austrians had their own steady restaurants called Stambeissi. The casarda in Hungary limits to meat dishes and fish stews. The Weinstube in Germany had a large wine selection and weinhauss offered food and wine to the customers. The economic reasons for the development of restaurants were those associated with income growth, population and commerce. There are a large number of events throughout the year that can influence the business of the restaurants. Seasonal food and that made from local produce has a big trend in the restaurant business in Europe. Another trend is offering special food on special days for example, Mother’s day, Valentine’s Day, etc. There has been special food offered even during the time of events like Wimbledon, Rugby or school holidays. Sundays are often the busiest days and Mondays and Tuesdays find very low business. There is an increase of 40% annual revenue during Christmas and New Year. Restaurants range from simple lunching spaces to costly establishments serving classy food and beverages served in a formal setting. Usually the orders are taken at the tables by the waiter where the customer sits and when the food is brought to the table when it is ready and customers pay the bill while leaving. There are restaurants which offer specific type of food such as seafood restaurants, vegetarian restaurants, etc. Restaurant guides help to rate the restaurant which provide information on customer opinions on the restaurants. The Michelin series of guides are used for rating the culinary skills of restaurants in Western Europe. A rating of 1 to 3 stars is provided and more the number of stars, higher are the price of the food. Another rating guide is the Gault Millau where the restaurants are ranked based on the quality of food, rather than the décor and the service. Here the restaurants are rated in a scale of 1 to 20 with 20 being the highest. These days, internet sites are available where the restaurant reviews are put up by customers. Chain restaurants offer a familiar menu and décor irrespective of its location. Earliest chain restaurants originated in Germany called automats. Restaurant chains account for nearly 14% of UK’s total catering expenditures. According to Technonomic’s 2010, Leading 100 U.K Chain Restaurant’s report fast casual restaurants are growing at a faster rate than limited service restaurants. Food service industry continues to be growing with revenues on a fast growth track. LITERATURE REVIEW. Community Empowerment Can Genuinely Benefit The Community Social Work Essay. In society, some groups are more vulnerable than others – the poor, the disabled, battered women, etc. NGOs working at the grassroots levels are best suited to deal with the vulnerable groups. However, NGOs and the Government can join hands to find the most suitable strategies to use, to empower those who are potentially weak in the social structure. The Government of Mauritius has put in place an NGO Trust fund to help these people to lead a decent life. Community empowerment can genuinely benefit the community. However, along the way community organisations encounter several obstacles which hamper the empowerment process. This called for a review of the community empowerment strategies. Most of the limitations of empowerment strategies occurred due to the lack of training in leadership development and lack of capacity building skills. On the other hand, NGOs were found to be limited in their actions due to the lack of resources and dependence on the Government. Moreover, the Government sometimes attributes more importance to the needs of stakeholders, rather than the needs of the community – thus failing the whole purpose of community empowerment. So, to increase community involvement, organisations have altered their way of doing things. Some examples are : strengthening relationships with the community by developing a deep understanding of community issues, undergoing training, implementing creative strategies to encourage participation, among others. 1 What is community empowerment? ‘Community empowerment is the local government’s core business’ (cdzCommunity Empowerment Can Genuinely Benefit The Community Social Work Essay

Examining Data Formats. Data Sourcing.

((ATTENTION there are 2 files I don’t know how to send it ))…..Homework #1 – Data Sourcing – The objective of this assignment is to expose you to some issues of acquiring data. First, we will examine some of the different formats that are used with data files. Oftentimes you can select the format that you will work with, but sometimes systems will force you to accept set data formats. Second, you will see firsthand how data are often provided in either an untidy format or just downright “dirty.” Working with data can be messy, it requires a careful, observant, and methodical approach. This assignment has two parts: (1) Multiple Formats – why are there different formats? You will work with RDF, XML, JSON, and CSV formats. (2) Identifying Issues with a dataset and developing a strategy to manage/correct issues. Here is a link to an online data wrangling tool: http://vis.stanford.edu/wrangler/. Feel free to explore it. You are NOT required to use it.Part 1: Multiple FormatsDownload the four zipcodeDemographics files. These files contain the same data but in different formats. Using a text editor examine the files and note differences in their structure. Perform some research to obtain brief definitions of each format, write your definitions stating your referenced source(s). Is any format easier to read compared to the others? If so, why?Examine the file and characterize it (i.e., pick a format to analyze). Imagine that you must present your findings to an executive committee that wants to know what is important in the data. Prepare a single PowerPoint slide to succinctly characterize the data.Part 2: Data WranglingData wrangling is the process of manipulating data to change it into a format that can be used for analysis so that the data can be used in automated/computerized analysis tools. There are two major stages: data tidying and data cleaning. Data tidying is the process of transforming data so that it is in a format where it can be readily processed by automated tools. Data cleaning is the process of transforming the data to insure to the greatest extent possible that it accurately reflects the subject that it pertains to.Download the University returns_for_figshare_FINAL.csv file. Using a tool such as Excel examine the file. Identify as many issues as you can with the dataset. For issues that you identify develop a strategy (or strategies) as to how they can be dealt with, report the issues and strategies.Submit a MS Word document with your findings from parts 1 & 2.

Carlo’s Food Company: Information Misunderstanding Case Study

Table of Contents Introduction Summary Background Alternatives Proposed Solution Recommendations Introduction There are many situations when children misunderstand the information offered by companies to attract customers, and such misunderstanding leads to some additional costs and discontent. Carlo’s Food is the company that faces a considerable ethical dilemma connected with the fact that children are not able to understand the information offered in the right way and are ready to blame the company for false or unclear facts. As a manager of the company, I cannot agree with the fact that Carlo’s Food misrepresents the facts. Such customers as children or older adults do not want to spend enough time to clarify the conditions of sales or discounts. They enjoy the possibility of having a discount and resent when they do not get such because of not following the rules. In this case study, the analysis of children’s and their parents’ concerns about the changes in the price of certain products in Carlo’s Food will be developed to clarify why companies make such unclear advertisements, and why children or their parents cannot understand that marketing could be cruel, and they cannot blame others for their own mistakes. Summary Carlo’s Food is a restaurant that is famous due to its attention to regular customers and the introduction of high-quality food and services. Regulars visit the place and treat it as something special and dear. However, as soon as the company had gathered the required client base, it stopped to attract new customers that led to such situations as the misrepresentation of information and the inability to provide customers with clear facts. Some customers are not satisfied with the fact that they cannot buy food at the price specified in the advertisement. They complain that they have to spend much money than it is defined in the ad. Children, as well as some adult clients, do not read the offer till the end and make wrong conclusions. As a result, certain discontents and questions appear. The board of directors has to understand that the goal of the company should not be to the satisfaction of regular customers only. Carlo’s Food has to think about changing its main policies and strategies and think about new customers, who could join the restaurant. Carlo’s Food has already introduced itself as a restaurant with high-quality food. People, who know about it, are eager to visit it and enjoy meals. However, new customers should also notice that they are welcome at Carlo’s Food, and hall managers should think about their new customers, explain the discounts and special offers, and attract them. In other words, direct communication with customers should become the main priority for the restaurant. In many cafes and shops, managers like to ask customers simple questions like “How are you?” or “What do you think about …”. The investigations show that many customers find it interesting and relaxing to exchange a couple of phrases with unknown people. Such an approach should not cost a lot for the company, and the results could bring certain benefits in a short period of time. Background Nowadays, the situations when people misunderstand the information offered by companies in the forms of sales and discounts vary considerably. Some people fail to read the conditions under which the event occurs. Some people do not pay attention to the fact that one day, they are the participants of a discount, and another day, there is no discount at all. This time, Carlo’s Food Company is charged with misrepresentation of information. Carlo’s Food is an American fast-food restaurant where people of all ages could eat and buy food to go. This company is famous due to its numerous sales and discounts. Many people like to eat there because they believe that modern prices are overvalued. However, recently, one unpleasant situation occurred. There was an offer to regular customers to buy a meal with a 50% discount. The price of the meal was underlined, and the requirement (the presence of three checks) was mentioned under the price and written in little letters. People bought the meal and expected to pay less. Children did not want to read the conditions of the discount at all and started to demonstrate their frustration. Customers had nothing to do but to buy meals at their actual price and spend more money than it was expected. Almost the same situations happened to Amazon, Google, and Apple, when children could make in-app purchases without parental permission: children’s inattentiveness, parental neglect, and company’s misrepresentation of information led to additional and unexpected costs. Alternatives Several alternatives were offered to unsatisfied customers. First, customers could get the required discount as soon as they became regular customers by leaving their personal information at the store or keeping saving checks. Second, the company had to improve its advertisement and make sure that the discount’s details were clear and available to all customers. Finally, a customer had a right not to buy order and not to pay for it without being aware of its actual price. All alternatives made sense, and all of them were rejected. It is disadvantageously for the company to prepare an order and not to sell it at once: only fresh orders could be offered to customers. Customers did not want to wait and gather checks to get the discounts. Finally, the improvements in ads cost money. The company was free to use any ad possible in case it corresponded with the standards of the country. Proposed Solution The main task in this situation is to make sure that customers are satisfied and the company should not lose its money. Therefore, an appropriate solution, which is not too costly but still appropriate for the company, includes the introduction of one hall manager, who could inform clients about the peculiarities of the discounts offered. In fact, the company does not make some serious mistakes that have to be legally punished. What should be changed is the way customers are informed. As soon as the company gives all information in a clear way, customers are free to interpret it any possible way. Still, any legal proceedings or public concerns cannot be used to blame the company in misrepresentation. Restaurant CCTV could be used as evidence that each customer is informed about the conditions under which the discounts could be got. Get your 100% original paper on any topic done in as little as 3 hours Learn More Recommendations It is suggested for the company to think about its future cooperation with customers and the necessity to attract all people regardless of the fact if they are regular or new clients. Carlos’ Food should be positioned as the restaurant that appreciates the choices of its regulars. Therefore, the strategy of retrenchment (i.e. focus on the best lines of the company) seems to be a good recommendation for Carlo’s Food. The restaurant has to concentrate on what it does best and make sure that customers support the chosen direction. Discounts for regulars, direct communication, and high-quality food are three main directions that cannot be neglected and have to be developed to any possible extent. Still, potential clients should also feel their urgency and significance for the company.
