Case Canine Couture

Across history, books and films have led to both personal and societal change. Books like Uncle Tom’s Cabin made Case Canine Couture.

Case: Canine Couture

Questions For the following six (6) questions comprise your Final exam. The term “information system” refers to a socio-technical system of “interrelated components working together to collect, process, store, and disseminate information to support decision making, coordination, control, analysis, and visualization in an organization” (Laudon & Laudon, 2014, p. G6). 1. Here, you should write a paragraph about how this is an original work; that you have not violated the honor code in any way. Tell me how it is appropriate to trust you, that your instructor is not a sucker for doing so, and how you believe in truth, honor, or some kind of value beyond ‘whatever it takes’…because ‘whatever it takes’ includes a lot of nasty things. (30 points) INSERT ANSWER HERE During your initial conversation with Susie Hernandez, she asked about whether she should hire an IT staff or use contractors to manage the information systems that will need to be installed at Canine Couture. 2. In addition to the information provided in the case, what additional information systems-related “reasonable” assumptions are you making related to Canine Couture? Note: “Reasonable” assumptions do not include that the organization has unlimited amounts of resources (e.g., money or personnel). To which specific question or questions (3 through 6 below) does each assumption pertain? Why are you making these assumptions? (30 points – but these assumptions affect the other questions, so there is carry-over!) INSERT ANSWER HERE 3. What are the most critical information systems-related management issues facing Canine Couture? Why? (30 points) INSERT ANSWER HERE 4. What are the most critical information systems-related organizational issues facing Canine Couture? Why? (30 points) INSERT ANSWER HERE 5. What are the most critical information systems-related technology issues facing Canine Couture? Why? (30 points) INSERT ANSWER HERE 6. Based on the issues outlined in items 3, 4, and 5, what specific recommendations do you have for Susie Hernandez to address the most critical information systems related issues? Note: Be sure to support your recommendations with appropriate rationale and references to “credible” electronic resources. (50 points)

After watching The Challenger Disaster(2019) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXAfIlTe7tw&t=4112s You will discuss the ethics of one or more people involved in the decision to launch/not launch Challenger in January of 1986. This will be an opinion piece with no correct answer. Just be sure to explain your reasoning. Please limit yourself to a maximum of 500 words of body text, and to just a few graphics if you need them. Be concise – imagine you are sending this to a senior manager who has only a few minutes to absorb your brief. This is not a narrative: it is to be an analysis. what is the justification for the right to free speech, and how expansive should this right be

what is the justification for the right to free speech, and how expansive should this right be.

Argue for a position on the scope of free speech – what is the justification for the right to free speech, and how expansive should this right be? Apply your position to at least one of the cases we’ve discussed related to hate speech (Collin v Smith, R.A.V. v City of St Paul) – should the court’s ruling be changed, in light of your position on free speech? Why or why not? The primary goal of your paper is to provide convincing answers to the prompt above. With that said, a good paper requires more than convincing answers; it will include exposition that provides background for the reader and makes the structure of paper clear. In particular, your papers should do the following three things (in addition to providing convincing answers!): 1) Include a brief introduction, where you explain what you’ll do in the paper. Be sure to state the thesis that you’ll argue for (for example, “In this paper I argue that Mill’s position on the scope of free speech is superior to those of Meiklejohn, Redish, and Emerson”). 2) The prompt requires you to argue for your preferred position on the scope of free speech. Before you argue for your preferred position, you must explain each of the four positions on the scope of free speech that we’ve covered in class (Mill, Meiklejohn, Redish, Emerson). In particular, this requires that you a. Explain how the law can limit speech b. Compare and contrast each position; for instance, what value(s) is the freedom of speech meant to serve, according to each author? 3) The prompt requires you to apply your preferred position on the scope of free speech to one of the cases we’ve covered related to hate speech. Before you apply your position to one of the cases we’ve discussed, you should briefly describe (1) the nature of hate speech and (2) some details of the case you will consider. In particular, this requires that you a. Explain what hate speech is, and what it is not (for instance, speech that merely makes someone angry is not hate speech). You are not required to discuss Waldron’s view on hate speech here, but if it helps you make the discussion clearer, then you are welcome to do so. b. Summarize the facts of the case you will consider c. Explain the court’s ruling in that case Just as before, there are not strict formatting requirements for the essay, nor is there a particular citation style required. Nevertheless, citations of some style are required (both intext, and a bibliography), and you must be consistent with whatever citation style you choose. A good rule of thumb for in-text citation is to provide the author’s last name and the page number of the relevant quotation.

Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and the Fate of a Nation

Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and the Fate of a Nation.

Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and the Fate of a Nation From a close reading of the materials provided, please write a response paper in which you demonstrate your understanding of the loftiest issue Lincoln addressed in the Gettysburg Address; the way in which the 14th Amendment, passed three years after his assassination, furthered the realization of his vision; the Supreme Court’s traditional take on the Citizenship Clause; and the attacks the Clause has suffered both historically and in the present day. To put it in literary terms: How do today’s so-called “anchor babies” issue from the anchors sailors hoisted on the slave ships departing Africa with their human cargo en route to the American colonies and, later, the United States. You may, rather, write about the Gettysburg Address as a predecessor to the Thirteenth Amendment, which Lincoln himself ushered through Congress with little suspicion of how its purposes would be twisted to serve anti-democratic, corporate interests. You may also write on the Fifteenth Amendment and how it became the first step in expanding the franchise, a process furthered by the Nineteenth and Twenty-sixth Amendments.

race and incarceration rates

race and incarceration rates.

can use these sources if you want: https://www.prisonpolicy.org/racialgeography/report.html Race, Education, and Reintegrating Formerly Incarcerated Citizens by John R. Chaney and Joni Schwartz https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/03/nyregion/new-york-state-prisons-inmates-racial-bias.html can use this in the paper or use this to get an idea : Race impacts the education people get and education can have a big affect on people being incarcerated because they are just bound to fall down a wrong path. the education system sets young people, especially those that are Black, up for failure. Many people have fallen into the criminal justice system and most of them are people who had very little helpful education. Black students are most likely to receive an education that doesn’t push them to the best of their ability and benefits them in the end If more people of color and spanish people were given a better education then less of these people would be incarcerated and put into the criminal justice system. When being out into the criminal justice system, these people have greater chance of messing up even more when they are released if they don’t have a chance to get an education while being incarcerated. Most people that dont work or get an education while being incarcerated come out and end up going right back in or struggling. I believe that race has a big impact on education and education has a huge impact on being incarcerated and falling downhill in life. Many people have been had such a hard time growing up and getting the bare minimum education and growing up in a rough neighborhood. Growing up in this situation often leads to kids taking a turn in the wrong direction and most of the time being incarcerated. While being incarcerated, many people weren’t able to get an education and carry it with them for when they get out of prison or jail and go to college or into the world and find a job.
