6: Cost Benefit Analysis, Shodan, Dorking, Monitoring

In the context of cyber security of any organization of your choice (you can use an organization that you have studied, or makeup one)  explain 3 cost areas and provide the cost (money) involved. You may assume the reasonable cost (or makeup one) by including any direct and indirect cost. Provide justification on why that is the estimated cost. Next, for each cost area support how the benefit is realized. It would be ideal if you could quantify the benefit in terms of money but it may not be always easy to do so. Let me provide a short example and you can follow this pattern and expand on that. The cost of purchasing new software is $1,000 and that software is used to support the new health regulations compliance law. If this new software is not purchased, then the organization will incur a penalty of $200 per month. As such, the one-time cost incurred is $1,000 and it will break even in 5 months (as in 5 months the company had to pay a penalty of $1,000). The goal of this discussion is to help students realize that an investment is made to realize a benefit (strategic, operational, competitive, compliance, loss of opportunity, etc.), and the new investment should break even at a certain point in time. Discussion Topic 2. For Shodan,  share your findings on any five tips/techniques of your choice. Discussion Topic 3. For Google Dorking, share your findings on any five tips/techniques of your choice. Discussion Topic 4. For Zero-Day vulnerability, explain what it is and ways to address it. Discussion Topic 5. Share your findings on any cyber security tool that can be used to monitor an IT infrastructure, what it monitors, how frequently it should monitor, how it monitors (you are not required to implement it but share any findings). ReferencesAt the end of all the discussion board post answers, list the references used in all the discussion board posts using the citation rule (see the course announcement on course protocol which notes the citation rule), and also cite the references in-line within the body of the writing.

Using the Wall Street Journal menu link, select an article that relates to this week’s readings, videos, and discussions. Briefly explain why you chose the article and how it relates to your leadership journey.

Sight is a faculty; seeing is an art.”- George Perkins Marsh

Sight is a faculty; seeing is an art.”- George Perkins Marsh.

What did George Perkins Marsh mean when he said this? Demonstrate your understanding of the reading, particularly Sayre’s explanation of “active seeing” in analyzing this quote. How do artists “see” the world around them, and how does this differ from mere observation? Please include a minimum of three textual citations in your response. These can be from your text, the articles from this week’s activities, or from your own research.
